Poster: A snowHead

Best price I can find is £110 for 2nd class through SwissPasses.com. Does anyone know of a better deal?

Well, the person's real but it's just a made up name, see?

You're right @LOTA, just done a comparison for a couple of journeys and the Supersaver ticket is somewhat cheaper. Cheers! I think though with the SuperSaver there is no flexibility. Train times have to be selected when purchasing. Could be an issue if say an outbound flight is delayed. Something to bear in mind.

@Skidm you're absolutely correct, Supersaver tickets are specific to a particular train(s) and so if you miss your train or connection the ticket is void and you'll be left having to purchase normal full price tickets....whereas with the Swiss Transfer Ticket you can board whichever train is most convenient for you when you land and you don't have to worry about flight delays costing you your Supersaver ticket! Also, if you're flight is cancelled and/or you have to travel on an unexpected day the Transfer Ticket will still be valid as you validate it yourself by writing in the date of usage just before you board your first train.
Just food for thought!

Anyway, snowHeads is much more fun if you do.

That's what I said..you are tied to certain trains. But the Supersaver worked splendidly for me last season (only one minor delay caused by an elderly gentleman driving his car into the train in the middle of Chur!!!!) and planning to do the same this time around.

Got mine free from the hotel, they were offering transfer (worth CHF 141) and ski pass (Wengen). SCGB had an offer with Swiss Air with £30 off per head and no charge for skis. Swiss transfer worked fantastic last year. All in all looked a good deal.

Hi again @LOTA, I notice you mentioned Arosa, which is now on my radar. I see it's easily accessible by train from Zurich. Is the mountain extent challenging and varied enough to keep things interesting for 3 days?

@skidm, plenty for six days let alone three, especially given the recent lift link to Lenzerheide. The railway trip from Zurich is dead easy, change at Chur for the spectacular last hour up the Schanfig Valley. I've been there several times so if you need to know anything else, please ask.
Or you could read my trip report from March:

Nice one @LOTA, great report too. Arosa seems to fit the bill.

The transfer through SBB Ticket shop is coming out at £113 currently (141CHF) so £110 seems good to me. We're looking at the STT for our trip to Zermatt and that's the cheapest option...Super Saver tickets are coming out at 163 CHF.

That's right @Run28, the Swiss Transfer Ticket is best at certain times for resorts such as Zermatt, but the Supersaver Ticket offers better value for other resorts, e.g. Klosters, Engelberg and Arosa.

And love to help out and answer questions and of course, read each other's snow reports.

The other time it's worth thinking of is if you have a few teenage kids. Iirc, kids go free on the pass. As many as you like, so can buy one cheap return and one pass with free kids (nuclear family assumed...)
