I'm trying to think exactly where this is, and my best conclusion so far is that they're putting in two new pistes where Claude took us for a powder fest last time. Hmmm
What is the reason for only being able to do the heavy lifting in cold temps?

At the start of the film the guy says it's the new Stades lift, according to this page https://valthorensguide.com/whats-new-in-val-thorens-for-2016-17.html it replaces the Roc and Stades drag lifts, which went to the top of the 'racing area' half way down the Les Vires piste - I don't see any mention of new pistes.

@Tubaski, I was going from memory - I know I've never been up a lift left of Peclet, but I found an old map and can see that's because it was a drag. I've definitely never been on a drag in Val T. I assumed it was a new line (two pistes are highlighted in the vid) but if it's a drag lift upgrade it's not where I thought.
After all it is free

Actually, having now looked at the new map online, and compared it to last season's from my cupboard the new lift goes a little higher and there IS a new piste 'croissant'. there's also a little cut through onto lac blanc

Lots of alpine lifts get moved in by helicopters, in general terms is often less environmentally damaging than say building an access road
snowHeads are a friendly bunch.

The old stades drag was pretty pointless slow as and they really didn't want you to go skier's right through the barriers.
And love to help out and answer questions and of course, read each other's snow reports.

So if you're just off somewhere snowy come back and post a snow report of your own and we'll all love you very much

Impressive stuff!
I appreciate they may have edited out the boring bits, but they don't hang around, do they?
You know it makes sense.

@PeDaSp, wow. Crikey how many fingers get squashed doing that, I was holding my breath when the first pillar went in. Shows confidence when the guy goes up the ladder to unhitch whilst they're still bolting on the bottom.
