@SkiG, no, spring. Bit early for these conditions and feels a couple of weeks earlier than normal, but very pleasant at present.

Very mild in the Arlberg today and sunny once the early cloud cleared.
Wind picking up now ahead of tomorrow's stormy weather which could bring up to 30cms above 1500-1700m.

@jimmybog, Just had a phone call from someone who has braved the weather and is at the Bergeralm. Apparently it's snowing at the top, turning to rain a couple of hundred meters down.

I'm in the 3 valleys, raining up to roughly 2100 metres, higher now and then.
Called it day and chilling out, rain level may be higher now as that was this morning.
I'm in la tania - slush fest!! Still fun though.

Any local view what it'll be like up on the glacier at Kaprun tomorrow? Bit of a slush fest today in Zell am See. So was wondering about driving up. Last day so don't want to spend it in the car going to and fro if it's closed?

@RetroBod, it was snowing heavily on the kaprun glacier today from the first lift station up. Very strong wind at the top. Fairly busy in spite of the inclement weather. Tomorrow could be good if the wind doesn't ruin it, but reckon it will be rammed as the rain was destroying what was left of the snow below 2000m at the neighbouring resorts, so the whole world and their dogs will probably go to kaprun, especially if the sun makes an appearance.

Yes, webcam showed it snowing at the top. Luckily we were leaving anyway. We had a great week weather wise, though it did get very warm at times. The flatter sections of the pistes were excellent all week. Can't say the same for the steeper sections. They were getting chopped up even by half ten.
And great to meet you finally.

Bergfex forecast for Zermatt looks very "interesting" next week - taking a good book with me as if it comes true we'll be confined to the treelined stuff.

Snow across upland areas of northern U.K. Tomorrow. White out western highlands and north Cairngorms.
Warm up thereafter in northern England into the reliable future.

Just arrived in Montgenevre, 22 degrees in the Oulx valley at 1000m! Forecast 17 degrees today at 1850m.
Spring is most definitely springing in the Southern Alps.

Yep first day of astronomical Spring and certainly feeling it in Alps. About 30-40cm of fresh snow fell in the Arlberg on Saturday, but heavy rain fell below 1700m, leaving some very sodden snow lower down. Higher up you have classic Spring conditions so make sure you pack shades, sun cream and some strong dance moves.

I am off to Meribel on the 9th April. Looks like it could be raining sideways in resort next week but snow higher up.
Is there anything in the various runs that shows a change for the following week?
|
|
|
|
|
|
Any recommendations on somewhere that may still be good at the start of April? Any cold weather forcast? not booked yet but defo going to go somewhere that week

As others have said, stick to the High Altitude Resorts for best conditions. Tignes / Val D'isere or Val Thorens are two that stand out. The lower resorts will probably be okay early April but you will very slushy runs by Mid Day.

A lot of snow due in the next week at altitude (lower down some heavy rain). Particularly the case at the western end of the southern side of the Alps.
By end of next weekend temperatures look like falling in 18z and 12z ECM so could be snow to lower levels.

@nozawaonsen, keep changing, keeps changing every six hours, now almost zero for the weekend which was looking pretty good, and currently winter returns Mon - Wed - but that will change.
Any snow falling now (off piste) will quickly disappear below 2,000m (if its' not rain) and in the valley(s), but up top and on the pistes (here in Serre) still excellent piste skiing to be had, evidently...............

06Z GFS seems to have swung back to quite heavy snow Sunday night in the E Alps.
TBH I'd much prefer just nice weather and freeze/thaw conditions. Although it looks a lot nicer around town with fresh snow it can lead to horrible conditions on piste this time of year. Someone I know actually got thrown over the handlebars it was so sticky.

06Z flipped to a very warm next week. Hopefully the 12Z will flip back.
