Mail for help.Help!!

Log in to snowHeads to make it MUCH better! Registration's totally free, of course, and makes snowHeads easier to use and to understand, gives better searching, filtering etc. as well as access to 'members only' forums, discounts and deals that U don't even know exist as a 'guest' user. (btw. 50,000+ snowHeads already know all this, making snowHeads the biggest, most active community of snow-heads in the UK, so you'll be in good company)..... When you register, you get our free weekly(-ish) snow report by email. It's rather good and not made up by tourist offices (or people that love the tourist office and want to marry it either)... We don't share your email address with anyone and we never send out any of those cheesy 'message from our partners' emails either. Anyway, snowHeads really is MUCH better when you're logged in - not least because you get to post your own messages complaining about things that annoy you like perhaps this banner which, incidentally, disappears when you log in :-)

Interesting,

https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/1285447401/forcite-alpine-first-smart-helmet-for-snow-sports

specs looks reasonable (if it lives up to the hype). Though I can see some limitations.

Range of Comms circa 200metres and I assume will only pair with other helmets

weight - all that stuff is going to add weight, but I haven't compared with other helmets

I'm not a big fan of "integration" in that if one of those things should need to be upgraded then you have to junk the whole thing.

So:
  • For snowboarders helmet mounts have limited application; my camera's better than that one; and maybe next year I'll upgrade once more...
  • My radio is fully programmable for any country, cost almost nothing, has tons of power and works even when I'm not wearing anything on my head (eg when I'm in the pub).
  • My phone already has enough stuff to inaccurately track my speed, should I need that.

I guess I'm probably not the target demographic.

Well, the person's real but it's just a made up name, see?

They're predicting 680-750g for a traditionally constructed EPS/shell helmet. Something like a POC backcountry Receptor WITH the additional MIPS layers comes in at 550g.
With @philwig, rather have control over the bits of kit I choose to carry.

I don't like it.

Still waiting for a HUD that is going to give me directions and respond to voice command "take me to that really nice restaurant again" so I never have to consult a piste map again.
