Mail for help.Help!!

Log in to snowHeads to make it MUCH better! Registration's totally free, of course, and makes snowHeads easier to use and to understand, gives better searching, filtering etc. as well as access to 'members only' forums, discounts and deals that U don't even know exist as a 'guest' user. (btw. 50,000+ snowHeads already know all this, making snowHeads the biggest, most active community of snow-heads in the UK, so you'll be in good company)..... When you register, you get our free weekly(-ish) snow report by email. It's rather good and not made up by tourist offices (or people that love the tourist office and want to marry it either)... We don't share your email address with anyone and we never send out any of those cheesy 'message from our partners' emails either. Anyway, snowHeads really is MUCH better when you're logged in - not least because you get to post your own messages complaining about things that annoy you like perhaps this banner which, incidentally, disappears when you log in :-)

Where to buy boots for the son?

 Poster: A snowHead

My son is nearly 15 and still growing but already a size 12!

I need to get him some boots, but dont want to spend an awful lot as they will probably only last this season.

Any pointers for a decent pair on a budget (secondhand considered), I see decathalon have pairs around the 100 quid mark.

@scotabroad, If you have serious concerns about his feet still growing and them lasting only one season just rent. No it's not ideal but he could use the rental as a way to see what makes of boots fit his foot shape.
Do the same next year if his feet are still growing and once they have stopped growing then buy him some boots which will last for quite a few years. You can then justify spending the money getting him to a good boot fitter who due to the size of his feet is well worth spending the extra to get the right boot that fits his foot rather than making a compromise.

Renting just phone round the rental shops in the resort you are coinsidering going to and make sure they have boots in his size and for his ability. Be prepared to walk out of one shop and go to another one to get the right boots for the holiday.

yes thats certainly an option. But we also go skiing in scotland a few times a year so buying a set wouldnt be long in paying for itself

@scotabroad, I was in the same situation last year. We had a few trips booked so buying made sense but didn't want to spend a fortune on a growing 14 yr old.
I took him to Decathlon and he found a pair he was delighted with for £89. Yes, the boots aren't properly fitted and haven't been heat moulded to his feet ( I did remove liners and do a basic shell check) but he said they were 10 times better than any rentals and skied happily on them every day.
It looks like they will also do this year as his feet haven't grown much and I presume the liners have packed down slightly.
