Log in to snowHeads to make it MUCH better!
Registration's totally free, of course, and makes snowHeads easier to use and to understand, gives better searching, filtering etc. as well as access to 'members only' forums, discounts and deals that U don't even know exist as a 'guest' user. (btw. 50,000+ snowHeads already know all this, making snowHeads the biggest, most active community of snow-heads in the UK, so you'll be in good company)..... When you register, you get our free weekly(-ish) snow report by email. It's rather good and not made up by tourist offices (or people that love the tourist office and want to marry it either)... We don't share your email address with anyone and we never send out any of those cheesy 'message from our partners' emails either. Anyway, snowHeads really is MUCH better when you're logged in - not least because you get to post your own messages complaining about things that annoy you like perhaps this banner which, incidentally, disappears when you log in :-)

Any good recommendations for offpiste guide in Mayrhofen? Off out in a couple of weeks and keen to make the most of the area.

I am heading to Mayrhofen this winter and after some research I contacted Peter Bacher at Rock n Snow. Seems very competent and should be a good choice.

I had a superb week skiing with Peter Bacher. I found him to be an excellent guide. We skied different resorts in the Valley. I had a really memorable day with him on the Hintertux. We were the only people freeriding! The only tracks I saw from the lifts were ours. There is some really excellent off-piste around Mayrhofen. We had excellent conditions and I saw nobody but us going off-piste. He also took some cracking photographs.

Just to follow up on this post, we had a day with Peter last week - highly recommended! Not the best conditions, and constrained by dangerous snowpack in some areas but he still found is good skiing! Knows the area like the back of his hand and incredibly knowledgeable. Plus a little bit crazy (in a good way!!)
