But the message I received from that video was, get an ABS and you're golden.
Not, I made a massive and potentially life ending decision.

It's difficult to define a mistake. It's risk assessment. Sometimes you simply can't know you made the wrong call until it's too late. And the only safe way to avoid that is to not ski off piste. She was really clear that the pack doesn't change her decision making. I wouldn't want to rely on ABS. My favourite was "for me, after this, the day cannot continue" which meant she had to go home and change her pants.

@Mike Pow, I got a different message, my version of hew message:
I am highly experienced and I believe that I understand the mountains.
Even so I made a mistake.
The airbag saved me from what could have been a terrible situation.
I recognise that I am fallible, and that one day I could make another mistake, or could just be unlucky (rungsp note: sometimes it might just be bad luck)
I will always wear an airbag just in case.
