Mail for help.Help!!

Log in to snowHeads to make it MUCH better! Registration's totally free, of course, and makes snowHeads easier to use and to understand, gives better searching, filtering etc. as well as access to 'members only' forums, discounts and deals that U don't even know exist as a 'guest' user. (btw. 50,000+ snowHeads already know all this, making snowHeads the biggest, most active community of snow-heads in the UK, so you'll be in good company)..... When you register, you get our free weekly(-ish) snow report by email. It's rather good and not made up by tourist offices (or people that love the tourist office and want to marry it either)... We don't share your email address with anyone and we never send out any of those cheesy 'message from our partners' emails either. Anyway, snowHeads really is MUCH better when you're logged in - not least because you get to post your own messages complaining about things that annoy you like perhaps this banner which, incidentally, disappears when you log in :-)

Best resort for a lads holiday

 Poster: A snowHead

I'm going away with 4 mates at the end of Feb but we don't know where to go. We don't want a massive transfer time but do want good skiing and decent night life. Flying from Manchester.
All opinions greatly appreciated.

St Anton. World class skiing, world class drinking. Only an hour from Innsbruck. Only problem is that there are no women.

Meribel is wall-to-wall with giggly chalet girls, absolutely the place for some away-day shenanigans. Andorra good too but long transfers.

FastCarver,

Andorra...Chav central?.. Shocked .what are you basing that on?...I've never seen any Burberry...Can you get a Burberry Ski Jacket?...I've been a couple of times and I wouldn't class myself as a chav...what I would say is that it isn't an 'upmarket' resort..its a bit ugly (Pas)and its cheaper than many resorts(but not as cheap as it used to be) and you get a lot more young people going there for the nightlife....just because they are young doesn't mean they are Chavs! Evil or Very Mad

If you want somewhere, cheap, chearful and want to have a good time at night, then I would recommend Pas de La Casa or Soldeu.... Madeye-Smiley

To be honest I thought the nightlife is Pas was nothing special !

Soldeu is very quiet compared to Pas.

I have done this many times in the past - be aware that a pint in Meribel,ValD, Cham etc will cost you about £5 a pop in a rocking bar! Now coming from my neck of the woods and knowing how much you are likely to drink on this cultural extravaganza - be aware as that could easily be a £75 a night trip (including food of course) Razz Razz Razz

Jack Hallam, Val Thorens - full of top Swedish and Dutch totty drinking till dawn, but the lift queues will be a nightmare at that time of year. Alpe d'Huez and Les Deux Alpes generally don't disapoint, but again, French holidays in February so can be a nightmare. Meribel and Val d'Isere are OK if you can put up with the braying ya accents. Austria is great for straight off the slopes drinking, Soll and Saalbach not bad, Bad Gaastein is where all the Scandis go. In Italy, Selva has good nightlife, as does Cervinia. Borovets in Bulgaria for lap dancing bars, strippers, hookers, guns, the lot !

For a lads holiday I agree Sauze D'Oulx is a top place. It may not find favour with the ski snobs, but with good conditions you'll have fabulous day on the slopes and a great night in the bars. Three of us lads (okay, we don't strictly qualify as lads any more) are off there without the girls next week.

I have been on "lads" holidays for the past 4 years. We go in a group of between 8 and 15. For the first 3 we went to Arinsal in Andorra. It is great for night life, all the good bars/clubs are within 5 minutes walk of each other. The Cow really rocks on some nights, and Surf Bar is open until late every night. Quo Vadis is another good bar but this is a very small resort and if it is female fun you are after then it is in short supply (as in most ski resorts). Boarding / skiing is somewhat restricted to few runs and Pal is good for skiers but not so much for boarders (too many flat bits). We found though that in 2004 it had become a bit too laddish. There were a few fights and scuffles and had become quite chavvy.

2005 we went to Pas de la Casa. The pistes are awesome as everything to the east of Andorra la Valle is now linked together, so there is miles and miles, with almost all modern fast chairlifts. However, the same again with the Nightlife - mostly groups of Brit males and sporadic acts of violence. witnessed one particular incident involving some bouncers and an iron bar that left a Brit in intensive care.

This year we are all off again but this time trying something different - Zakopane in Poland. this is the first year that a British operator has offered packages there so I'll let you know what it is like. Apparently, it is more of a mixed resort with lots of locals.

If it's a boarding / skiing holiday you are after then there are many choices - if it's birds and booze, wait until the summer and go to Malia!
