I wondered if this forum also helped seniors or oaps connect together too?
I'm not an oap just yet but looking ahead...
My partner has Parkinsons and can't ski with me any more.
I'm looking for other mature people to ski with next year.
I am female, in my 50s and intermediate level but so far have been brave enough to do two solo trips to the alps this season.
I'd be happy to cordinate a group trip and look for discounts if there were enough of us over 50s.
Sorry to hijack the disabled forum and no disrespect intended to very fit over 50s!!

jadavi, there are always plenty of people of your age on snowHead Bashes - and OAPs too! Sometimes I'm not even the oldest person on a Bash.

jadavi, there is a range of options but if I were you I'd think about groups to ski with, rather than age-groups. There are some very good tuition-based ski trips around and the ones I've been on have had a good range of ages - tending towards the older.

Thanks Pam, I've never seen tuition based group trips. Where are these advertised? I agree about groups as opposed to age groups. just keeping my ear open for all options but would also like to find someone |I can hook up with for short trips who was at the same level as me (and I guess - age too)

I was also vaguelly thinking of finding really cheap lift passes for older people...in america some passes are free to over 60s. maybe thats not the case in europe.

Inside Out Skiing, Snoworks and Warren Smith (inter alia) come well recommended on snowHeads.

I recently got a bit of a reduction in Italy for the first time, but still don't qualify in France or Austria, despite being as old as Methuselah, as Frosty the Snowman has so helpfully pointed out.

jadavi, I get a very small reduction on my season pass, over 65. I shall get a bigger reduction if I make it to 75, but still not free!

And love to help out and answer questions and of course, read each other's snow reports.

jadavi, Inspired to Ski is another one to look at. When I did a course with them, some years ago, I shared a room with another woman to save costs but now being older and crankier I would splash out for a single room. I did 3 days in October last, in Tignes, with Inside Out skiing. I felt there was a good age range of people on the course, but a 22 year old would have felt very left out.

jadavi, pam w, over 70 is a common age break. It was €10 for a week the last time my parents came to Les Arcs with us.
Is fifties Mature, or older? I don't think so....!

The Les Arcs cheap pass - €10 for two weeks - is now for over age 72.
The age is going up each year. By the time I qualify it will probably be for over 80s.

jadavi, we're a group of mostly over 50s and usually meet similar in TO chalet hols such as Ski Miguel, Ski Olympic or Ski Total...
One lady in her early 60s was on her third or fourth ski holiday this season and was planning more. She said ST arrange shares for similar singles... And the guiding means you have people to ski and socialise with.

jadavi, this company offer holidays specifically for older skiers
http://classicski.co.uk/
I have met several of their customers in Les Saisies. Some are impressively ancient. Seem a nice crowd. Personally I'd choose one of the holidays with tuition - but that's just me, I like ski lessons!!
