Hey everyone,
Been a while since I've been here, been doing some hunting around for a ski holiday before we reach end of season, last season was a nightmare as bad weather made skiing almost impossible for half the holiday 
Anywho, I am trying to decide on wether I should go for a cheap ski holiday and take the risk, or if I should spend a little more and go for something bespoke?
Has anyone had a ski holiday with www.inghams.co.uk or www.snowfinders.co.uk as I know they both have a selection of holidays, some cheap, some bespoke? I just don't want to end up going on a wild goose chase through travel agents,
Also, I am thinking of actually buying some ski equipment this year instead of hiring it, as I am really getting the hang of it now  , anyone got some suggestions for base level ski equipment, oh, including boots!
P.S Switzerland so far has the best skiing views! for anyone who hasn't been,

sorry, don't really understand your question - around here, we call holidays offered by people like Inghams a "package" and holidays where you put it all together yourself (rent an apartment, book a flight or drive down, etc etc) "DIY" or Do It Yourself.
If you explain a bit more - and give some info about your planned timings, type of skiing you like, etc etc I'm sure you'll get lots of helpful advice. And probably some fairly unhelpful advice too.

I have gone with Inghams before and several times on cheap last minute £199 deals. They have been very good and we will go with them again. Can't comment on snowfinders a very quick look at there website and they look like a site which gives you deals from different TO's like Iglu?
On the equipment side. I would highly recommend getting boots, we have never felt it worth getting ski's as you have to pay extra for carriage, get them serviced and if you end up with poor conditions I would rather damage hired ski's than my own. We bought ours in resort (Courchevel 1550 about 10 yrs ago, in their end of season sale, we were the last week our and many other accomodations were open for).
ETA: definitely a middle man website rather than a TO, as they having Crystal 2000 on there front page which is an Esprit place.

danielfoley, check out lastminute.com for ski holidays. You can get loads of naff deals, but also some amazing diamonds that only last a few hours because folk are waiting to pounce on them. Basically get your criteria sorted, your credit card handy, and keep looking. The real bargains tend to appear about two weeks prior to departure. If it's too good to be true, book it on the spot - it'll be gone in a few hours (unless it's a 5* hotel in Bulgaria for £199 h/b).
My group was pipped to the post for a £389pp 11day Banff trip to Caribou Lodge with £100 off lift pass (via Inghams). Now that's giving it away!

I haven't read the spec for the above but if it's unsuitable there is loads more kit on the website. I got my current skis from them -service was excellent.

 ... it'd be even more of a PITA to spend the extra time at a hire shop getting fleeced for unfamiliar planks with generic edge and base angles and heavy, rental bindings.

Would always go for a DIY holiday... Often you get better deals and a wider choice of accommodation... I have been away with a couple of package companies... One was great, with an amazing chalet and staff, the other was 'ok' with CAK accommodation...
On all the hols I have done myself, I have had great accommodation, great staff (If I''ve gone Fully catered) and have had total control over everything...
