Doesn't look like tunnel is affected but I guess there could be traffic probs on the motorway (although more likely after the tunnel exit I would imagine). No fun for those going on the boats though and I think the tunnel is allready pretty full. I know a lot of people will be heading over to ride the Tour of Flanders sportive on saturday.

If you're heading for the tunnel get off the motorway and go via Canterbury on the A2 and A260. Did that a few years ago and escaped the worst of it while our friends were caught for 12 hours in a stack.

Shame you can't get Norfolkline/DFDS into Zeebrugge any more, used to conveniently cut out the French ports and be cheaper to boot.
Perhaps not ski related, but just to defend 'the French' it does seem their cousins at TfL are having a bit of time off themselves too:

Tube drivers on the Jubilee Line have voted to go on two 24-hour strikes in a row over working conditions and claims of bullying.
Members of the Rail Maritime and Transport union and Aslef are set to walk out on 2 April and on 2 May. |
I do like how strikes are always held around holidays regardless of the country/industry.

As much as I love other nationalities. Some are amazing, some are morons and the vast majority are decent human beings.
I think I might actually love the receptionist from our apartment last week though. Phwoar!

It is, from P & O website.
We have been advised that the strike action by French Port Control officers which was planned to start at 08h00 local time today the 28th March 2013 has been cancelled.
I'd have booked an o/b on Eurotunnel last night but they are sold out until Saturday night.

Good news! Just the old 'delays due to earlier cancellations' chestnut to contend with once we've done battle with the M25 & Dartford crossing!

I just had this message from my niece, who is booked to cross on the tunnel tonight.
Quote: |
Traffic to chunnel ok, seems to be a two hour or so delay on departures at the moment. I think we just made it before all hell broke loose- they're only letting a handful of cars through at a time from the motorway exit. Queued up for a fair distance by now, I'd imagine. Been here an hour and we're almost in the car park. Tis gonna be a long night, I fear..... |
