Mail for help.Help!!

Log in to snowHeads to make it MUCH better! Registration's totally free, of course, and makes snowHeads easier to use and to understand, gives better searching, filtering etc. as well as access to 'members only' forums, discounts and deals that U don't even know exist as a 'guest' user. (btw. 50,000+ snowHeads already know all this, making snowHeads the biggest, most active community of snow-heads in the UK, so you'll be in good company)..... When you register, you get our free weekly(-ish) snow report by email. It's rather good and not made up by tourist offices (or people that love the tourist office and want to marry it either)... We don't share your email address with anyone and we never send out any of those cheesy 'message from our partners' emails either. Anyway, snowHeads really is MUCH better when you're logged in - not least because you get to post your own messages complaining about things that annoy you like perhaps this banner which, incidentally, disappears when you log in :-)

It's a Girl Thing 2...part 2.

The second heat of this year's "It's a Girl Thing 2" competition took place at Xscape MK last weekend. Competition was fierce and the judges found it impossible to decide who should fill the "best runner up" category and get the final spot on the plane to Switzerland...

Braving Sunday's horrendous weather conditions and heavily congested traffic en route to Milton Keynes Xscape for the second qualifying round of It's a Girl Thing 2, it was apparent before anyone had even clicked into their bindings that these girls were a committed bunch.

The excellent indoor layout (thanks to the MK Xscape staff) saw a choice of five rails for the girls to enjoy and ultimately impress the judges with. As in the previous qualifying round, camaraderie was the order of the day with the girls encouraging each other and enjoying the relaxed event. The skiing was impressive and the general agreement was that the overall standard was even higher than at last year's event.

Three girls edged ahead of the pack led by Amber Connors – an MK local and clearly enjoying a home advantage. Harder to choose between were Katherine Earle from Bromley and Claire Hughes of Glasgow University. The girls ticked every box... style, commitment and gutsy riding but only three were to be awarded a place in the December Final; the winner from each qualifier and the best runner up over the two qualifiers. Amy Rudman, a student at Leeds University, had already won the Castleford qualifier a week previous leaving just 2 places to fill.

Amber Connors had marginally edged first place on the night, which left a straight dog fight between Claire Hughes (also pencilled in as the 'Best Runner-up' from Castleford) and Katherine Earle for the third qualifying spot. It truly proved a head-scratcher for the judges... The more aggressive style of Katherine Earle or the more laid-back smoothness of Claire Hughes? In true Dark Summer style, there was a break with tradition and both girls were awarded best runner-up and invited to Switzerland.

Congratulations to Amber, Claire and Katherine who join Amy in the Final to be held in the historic and beautiful Mürren, in the Jungfrau region of Switzerland.
