Been quite frustrating here in Serre Chevalier, so much snow, but weather not playing ball for touring.
We've not had two consecutive days to get a good freeze / melt going.
We have done three or four days and snow has been so heavy even at 2,500m and lower down at 1200m real ACL trashing sludge, yet to ski any decent lines in spring snow for a good descent that I would normally expect by now.
I was talking to a friend I've know since 97 who runs the Cafe at the Col du Lautaret yesterday and she said basically it's not Spring yet, more like winter.
Though with all the snow it's just heavy - and hard to find cold snow, need to be above 3000m.
I'm still out for another three or four weeks just hope we get a change in the weather, looking better towards the end of next week.
I'm sure people have been out today, but we opted for cross country, I just have to be careful with heavy snow following on from ACL problems.

Planing to do a tour tomorrow and just reading through the tour reports on "gipfeltreffen.at". There's enough snow base and the freezing level here in East Austria is around the 1000m mark (although it looks to be warming up next week). Biggest problem is that it's mostly overcast so the sun isn't getting through to softer the top layer and give good "firn" skiing. Refrozen crud isn't the nicest of conditions to ski.

Yes Winter conditions from sea level to 800m. The snow only started to transform 2 days ago and it wasn't spring snow proper; even on our final day yesterday

And ultimate sods law, had my brother staying with me last night, and could not get out today, and conditions were pretty well the best since we've been here for touring
Planning on an early start tomorrow, so watch the weather do other things, forecasts have been so wrong, almost on a daily basis last couple of weeks, so we get up early and make the call.

We have had, yesterday found some very nice spring snow, just in a closed resort though. Today has been much colder, seriously low vis and (very) light snow down to low altitudes, so pretty much just been a piste day (ok, afternoon) as everything else (or at least reasonably navigable in the fog) was nasty refrozen crud.
