Log in to snowHeads to make it MUCH better!
Registration's totally free, of course, and makes snowHeads easier to use and to understand, gives better searching, filtering etc. as well as access to 'members only' forums, discounts and deals that U don't even know exist as a 'guest' user. (btw. 50,000+ snowHeads already know all this, making snowHeads the biggest, most active community of snow-heads in the UK, so you'll be in good company)..... When you register, you get our free weekly(-ish) snow report by email. It's rather good and not made up by tourist offices (or people that love the tourist office and want to marry it either)... We don't share your email address with anyone and we never send out any of those cheesy 'message from our partners' emails either. Anyway, snowHeads really is MUCH better when you're logged in - not least because you get to post your own messages complaining about things that annoy you like perhaps this banner which, incidentally, disappears when you log in :-)

So we have the Carre Neige. We are in a remote area and someone has an accident. How do you get hold of the pisteures or rescue services. Is it 112 ?

112 will do. Most ski areas will also publicise a local rescue number.

The local rescue number has been all the piste maps I have seen. They will understand where you are immediately - a remote 112 call centre may have to relay. Always a good plan to store it in your mobile at the top of the address book.

Ski maps will usually have the local pisteurs number on it or as you say 112 will get through.

112 will get you the emergency services call centre people, which is rather a roundabout way of doing things, as all they will do is call piste rescue and give them a garbled message. Call them yourselves on the number on the back of the piste map/the chairlift safety bars/wherever as applicable depending on resort.
If you have a smartphone and the resort has an app, download it - there's usually a direct link to piste rescue in the app.

If calling the emergency services in France, do you just dial 112 from your UK mobile, or is a prefix required?
