Just a quickie
Whats the best place to fill up at GVA (swiss side) coming in from Lausanne direction?

There is a service area on the motorway about 40km before the airport.
I always used to brim up there....the fuel guage always looked very full and no hire company every raised an eyebrow.

Well, the person's real but it's just a made up name, see?

cheaper to dive off at the nyon exit and fill up in the Avia. The motorway service station at la cote is expensive, but you may not care.

Anyway, snowHeads is much more fun if you do.

if you come off at Ferney and take the road to Geneva (Nations) there is a garage just at the start of the hill into town near the airport. You can then get back to the airport without heading onto the autoroute again. The price is usually competitive. Allow about 10 minutes to do this.

You'll need to Register first of course.

I haven't spotted much variation in fuel prices in Switzerland.

When I was there two weeks ago, it looked to me that fuel was actually cheaper in Switzerland... oddly enough.

Petrol cheaper in Switzerland, diesel cheaper in France
And living in Nyon as I do, the Nyon exit is a good bet, turn right at the exit and there is a choice of two petrol stations within 200 yards. There isn't a petrol station particularly close on the next exit, the Coppet one, which is the last exit more or less until you get to the airport.

Thanks for all the tips guys
First time flying to our appt in Nendaz so all a bit of an adventure
Weve driven down about 20 times with 7 year old twins etc over the past few years.
This time boys only trip - should put a different perspective on it all!

And love to help out and answer questions and of course, read each other's snow reports.

Martin - there is a pump at the airport - about 100m from the car return. It maybe slightly more expensive but on a boys trip probably not significant. It's on the right hand side of the road, literally just before the car hire return.
Of course you should probably be hiring on the French side

Thanks for the further tip.
Used the Nyon station and got to GVA with a full gauge so job done.
Phenomenal weekend, and skiied our thingies off!
Reckon 3 1/2 days done like that were equivalent to about 2 weeks "family" skiing
Conditions still ridiculously good - 5" fresh powder at trocouet yesterday and link still holding up.
Entire area (including Verbier) basically empty all weekend - Reckon the Swissies need to re peg the Chf at about 1.40 Euro to get the punters back (I wish!!)
