Mail for help.Help!!

Log in to snowHeads to make it MUCH better! Registration's totally free, of course, and makes snowHeads easier to use and to understand, gives better searching, filtering etc. as well as access to 'members only' forums, discounts and deals that U don't even know exist as a 'guest' user. (btw. 50,000+ snowHeads already know all this, making snowHeads the biggest, most active community of snow-heads in the UK, so you'll be in good company)..... When you register, you get our free weekly(-ish) snow report by email. It's rather good and not made up by tourist offices (or people that love the tourist office and want to marry it either)... We don't share your email address with anyone and we never send out any of those cheesy 'message from our partners' emails either. Anyway, snowHeads really is MUCH better when you're logged in - not least because you get to post your own messages complaining about things that annoy you like perhaps this banner which, incidentally, disappears when you log in :-)

Best way from Serre Chevalier to Montgenevre without car?

 Poster: A snowHead
Poster: A snowHead
We will be staying in Villeneuve next week and would like to take advantage of the lift pass included day at Montgenevre. There are only 2 of us and we wouldn't want the cost of a taxi.
Could anyone please advise of best/cheapest way to travel to Montgenevre for a day's skiing? I beleive there is a bus from Briancon to Montgenevre but I don't know if or how the Serre Cheavalier ski buses link up with it. Any info/links to websites etc. would be greatly appreciated.[/b]

If the buses don't suit, car hire for the day asn't expensive - several hire places in Briancon.

Buses probably would suit - do you know where i could get any info on them? A quick web search didn't help me.

nuke, send a pm to Hells Bells - she is our "resident" SC expert. I'm sure she would have responded with some info by now, but she is out there at the moment.

I am fairly sure there are direct buses from Briancon to Montgenevre - it is only about 20-30 minutes away max. You can use the Serre Chevalier service (free with your lift pass) to get from Villeneuve to Briancon.

Welcome to snowHeads, BTW snowHead

Chasseur, you did better than me. I've Pmd Nuke with some other links. That timetable looks like the summer one, (Mai-Dec 12) but it probably isn't much different in winter and may even be more frequent.

OK....there was a link to another page http://www.05voyageurs.com/334.0.html?&L=1&ljvfihfqf= and it does seem to have a timetable, though nothing overly frequent - 7am or 9.45am from what I could make out.

yes, the journeys highlighted in pale green meet up with the Serre Chevalier ski bus at Prorel, which is the gondola station in Briancon.

Are you going to meet up with the group of us next week? I will be in the Chalet Charlotte and Hells Bells has mentioned some other Snowheads will be around the area too.

The benefits of retirement: I was enjoying a leisurely lunch with a friend in the afternoon, having sorted out my kit for next week's skiing in the morning. So much easier to focus on what is important. Cool

Can you grab a lift on the tour operator bus? They often do a day trip on a Friday.

If you're in Villeneuve look out for a friendly Welsh chap in a Neilson jacket - his name is Rhydian.

We were in montgenevre at Christmas and there were definitely buses down to briancon and back. The timetable was available from the tourist office but as we didn't use them don't know where they stopped in briancon. Would agree with the suggestion to let your local tourist office advise. Don't miss the baths at monetier.
