Possibly the answer to this is one the BASI website, but I haven't found it as yet.
So,
I'm already instructing, but considering doing BASI this year. When it comes to logging hours, can I count hours where I teach under my current licence once I've passed the initial stage of BASI ?

I recommend asking BASI to be sure. I'd be interested in the answer too as I may find myself in the same position. I think the answer would probably be yes, given that (I think) you're allowed to count pretty much anything skiing related (e.g. fitting boots) towards your hours.

thirty06, It specifically states that the hours need to be after the course. My daughter now only has 3 out of the 35 left to do after her BASI1.

Contact the BASI office for a definitive answer, but I don't think you will be able to count those hours.

thirty06, Having said that is your licence a foreign snow one NZ or something which may allow you to count if you are coming in at 3 but not for 1

Yes, I meant hours of teaching that are conducted after passing the BASI course. I'm licensed and authorised to teach at a ski club, on my own and can continue to do so. For my current system, my teaching hours have to be directly supervised by someone a grade higher and signed off by someone of a still higher grade to count towards any further award. 'Directly supervised' means that someone with the appropriate qualification must be present in the same lesson throughout the lesson and only supervise that one lesson, it's a good system, but it can be hard to find the manpower.

I'm just looking for to go from the start, not a conversion.
My attianance is very conscientious.
I'm sure that we'd all like to gain our qualification by delivering quality teaching.
Ooh, I can log my hours of in house training!
I notice that the BASI list doesn't include:
Removing cats from the slope.
Making the lesson more interesting than the bunny hopping round the slope.
Stopping the class chucking snow at each other.
Stopping the class chucking snow at other classes.
Stopping the class chucking snow at you when they've exhausted all other possibilities.

thirty06, yes your hours teaching at a ski club would count, as long as there is someone to sign them off. I did quite a lot of my 200 hours post L2 at a ski club.
