First post so hi to everyone.
As well as our main family ski trip I always manage to squeeze in a 4 day trip with my Dad, last year Les Angles, this year we've booked flights to Grenoble for March and will decide where we're going nearer the date.
My Dad is over 65 for the first time ski-ing and has been quoted over £100 insurance for a 4 day trip ! Does anyone have any ideas or tips for winter sports insurance for the over 65's ?
Any help much appreciated.

bladeskier, Snowcard.co.uk only put their premiums up when you get to 70 so you could try them, unfortunately their website seems to be having a funny time today so you might need to phone them to get a proper quote

bladeskier, welcome to Snowheads. Unfortunately the cost of insuring an elderly person for a high risk sport like skiing, is indeed inherently exhorbitant c.f. insuring someone 30 years younger. The best you can hope for is to reduce the cost as much as possible by shopping around:
Snowcard.co.uk (as D G Orf mentioned) is probably one of the best - the company is much more skier-focused than yer usual travel insurer.
Otherwise try Googling internet jobbies: insureandgo.co.uk, for a start. Ski-insurance quotes for over-65's aren't provided on the web-site, so you'd have to ring them direct. But considering the website will insure a 65yr old skier for under £25 for a 4 day trip, then it's unlikely their post-65yr old insurance will be astronomical.

Have you tried Saga? I have no knowledge of their ski insurance, but I know that they are generally geared up to older people.

Welcome bladeskier, my experience of others using Saga is that surprisingly they are not as friendly to anything "non-standard" in the elderly as you might expect.
However - good on your Dad for still skiing.
A chap I know aged 86 went to Austria with his son last Christmas having made a firm decision that he had become too old to ski... but was "forced" to change his mind once he was out there and saw the conditions!

The DHO have a member who is well into his 80's who still takes part in our annual downhill race, considering that this is run as a mass start that's truly impressive.

You don't mention actually how young the traveller is! Try the British Mountaineering Council (BMC) policy here. They cover up to 66 at standard rates - £35.00 & Over 66 - £59.50. A very good policy.
