Hi all,
We have found a nice chalet in the centre of morzine 10 min walk from the super morzine bubble. We had originally planned to stay in Avoriaz but found accommodation a little limited so we have decided to stay in Morzine. Though nothing booked yet.
What routes can we take to Avoriaz and back to morzine? we want to avoid any drag lifts if possible, and approx how long does it take? we are heading out on 9th march for 4 days and so want to spend as much time on the slopes as possible. Should i be expecting long queues to get to up to avoriaz at that time of year?

The SuperMorzine gondola will take you up to a series of chairs which lead all the way into Avoriaz.
Zore, Baron, Serrosaix (or something) and then Proclou
There's also Prodains cable car, but you'll need to take the bus up to it. I think it's about a 15-20 ride iirc.

TayMehmet, Prodains cable car is the best way if you want to get height quickly IMHO

kitenski, if you have a car, Ardent bubble is better IMO.
Chairlift ffrom Prodains an alternative.
TayMehmet, unless you are all very un-adventurous, you will probably want to explore more of the PDS and thus an area pass, rather than just the Avoriaz one.

PdS is a huge area with lots of resorts, you dont want to restrict yourself to one resort only. Most of the good skiing/boarding is outside of the resorts as they tend to be very busy with beginners taking lessons and lots of people going home. A bit like a town in the uk, the country roads and motorways are great but the town centres are chocka. I have been there 4 years running and find new stuff every year, fantastic area and loads to explore, don't pigeon hole or restrict yourself before you go.

If you really wanted to ski just Avoriaz - we stayed in a super chalet in Janurary where they mini bussed you to the Ardent every morning - www.alikats.eu - personally we really preferred Avoriaz to Morzine/les gets - it seemed a lot quieter - and the snowboarders in our group loved The Stash!

it's a very busy time (French school hols) but it's generally possible to avoid the worst of the queues with some local advice on time/lifts to avoid. Because the snow is good at the moment skiers can spread out throughout the area, which should help a lot.

We stayed in Morzine over new year week and skied two days around Avoriaz and two days on the Morzine/Let Gets side. We found that getting to Avoriaz via the supermorzine bubble was fine, few queues (although we are first lift kind of people) and we enjoyed being out in the fresh air rather than on the bus. However, the homeward return at the end of the daywas less smooth. There was a bottle neck at the chair (Seraussaix I think), lots of jostling queues for over 40 minutes, then a flat pole punt or down a piste and up a drag. The next day we decided to ski down to Ardent and get the ski bus back, as the queues were building at Lindarets. Jumped on the bus, took about 20 minutes to reach morzine, we got off at the big bridge over the river to the supermorzine gondola.
As others have said, don't limit yourself to a particular area of skiing, just see what conditions are like and have a go at everything. We bought the full PdS pass, so we could ski anywhere we liked. We enjoyed the area around Lindarets, with The Stash and nearby pistes, lots of through the trees fun. We also liked the Nyon and Chamossiere sectors above Morzine, Les Gets/Ranfoily for cruising, Plaine Dranse heading towards Chatel. We dipped into Switzerland but the conditions were not as good on the day we went (windy, flat light, scraped pistes).
