Poster: A snowHead
|
I'm hoping to spend a week back out in the Dolomites with Mountainsun starting Sun 3 March. Either in San Cassiano or Kronplatz. I am a 53yr old married male keen skier (references may be available from other sH's if you trust them) looking for people to ski with - mainly on piste, but will consider guided off piste, I know the area well having been on the birthday bashes, I ski anything in this area, like to be out early and back late but am flexible. Anyone care to join?

Obviously A snowHead isn't a real person

SteveM, after staying at both I would opt for San Cass.

Well, the person's real but it's just a made up name, see?

SteveM, I won't be there but like Smokin Joe I've stayed at both and would also say San Cass. It's smaller, so you're more likely to get chatting with people, it's ski in/ski out so convenient and it's not in the middle of nowhere. The Kronplatz place is. You have to rely on their minibus to go anywhere, (which is OK if in a big group but not much fun if you end up on your own.)

Smokin Joe, maggi, thanks both for your recommendations. Another thought for me is that I can also hop over to the Kronplatz area from SC if I want to explore that area, which I've not done to date. Having been on the birthday bashes so far, I'm pretty familiar with the Sella Ronda and it'll make a change to start from SC rather than Arabba. Had originally planned to go somewhere else in Italy but I'm being drawn back to the Sella Ronda area ....

Anyway, snowHeads is much more fun if you do.

SteveM, This would only work if your dates are flexible, but if you want other people to ski with you could try the Inside Out trip based in San Cassiano from 17th - 24th March.

Myself and at least a couple of other snowHeads will be going (I'm assuming that could be seen as a positive factor!)

Iski, of course the presence of a few other snowHeads would be a positive factor, but unfortunately my dates are fixed due to various other commitments. But thanks for letting me know.

SteveM,
5 of us are going out to Kronplatz on 24th March after me recommending it after the preBB. Hoping the snow will be still good, and am expecting to explore a lot more of the surrounding areas this time, and definitely going to do the Sella circuit this time.
Same as you in that we're expecting to be first into the minibus every morning and last back.
St Martino might be a little quiet, but we'll have a good laugh in the bar, and get out for a night or two as well.
Can anyone remember what the earliest flight time was for transfers on the way back?

Thanks Smokin Joe. My mate went ahead and booked flights even though I'd said to wait until I could confirm transfer times. He got us all a good deal so fair play. The flight back is at 1120 from INN so should be OK. I think I remember the minibus for Innsbruck leaving about 7am last time (I was flying from Venice then).
Not too impressed with Mountain Sun as they said they'd mail me over the weekend with confirmed prices/rooms etc but haven't. Still, push comes to shove, there's always lots of other places to go

blert596, I have done the Innsbruch Gatwick route a couple of times now and the bus did leave about 7am with plenty time for everybody getting the morning flights.
Mountainsun tend to be crazy in half term holiday time, resend the email again to bring it back to the top of the pile
