Help!!
Log in to snowHeads to make it MUCH better!
Registration's totally free, of course, and makes snowHeads easier to use and to understand, gives better searching, filtering etc. as well as access to 'members only' forums, discounts and deals that U don't even know exist as a 'guest' user. (btw. 50,000+ snowHeads already know all this, making snowHeads the biggest, most active community of snow-heads in the UK, so you'll be in good company)..... When you register, you get our free weekly(-ish) snow report by email. It's rather good and not made up by tourist offices (or people that love the tourist office and want to marry it either)... We don't share your email address with anyone and we never send out any of those cheesy 'message from our partners' emails either. Anyway, snowHeads really is MUCH better when you're logged in - not least because you get to post your own messages complaining about things that annoy you like perhaps this banner which, incidentally, disappears when you log in :-)

Hi there
Am about to book a private apartment in the Silveralp complex for 5th April. Nice apartment (tick), good location (tick)-but does anyone know if there anything we need to be careful of-noisey outside? Is it used for large student groups??
Also, we are looking to book some private lessons for our daughters-could do Prosneige (who have used before and they get good reviews) but their times aren't great. Another ski school called SkiCool have more convenient times but I haven't heard of them before-has anyone used them for lessons, if so what were they like?
Cheers for all your help

B**gger...after faffing around for a fortnight, someone else has just booked the apartment two days ago!
Plan B is the Eterlous which has a great location as well. Has anyone stayed there instead?
Thanks!
Well, the person's real but it's just a made up name, see?

Our apartment is in cimes de carons, one of the smaller ones. This tends to be quiet.
The ones at the top of the village and the large ones just at the village centre tend to be noisiest with commercial operators renting them out cheaply to anyone especially youngsters.
The smaller buildings tend to be owned and rented out by the owners more.
However.... there is a big element of pot luck in any of the apartment buildings. If you are unfortunate to get a rowdy group of youngsters in an apartment in a building they can make life difficult for the whole building. We had just one complaint about noise last year and the building management did their best but they have limited powers. Remember the whole building's occupants change each Saturday.
Thiere is bound to be some noise where ever you go but my advice is rent privately from somewhere like ownersdirect from a small block where most people rent out their apartment themselves just to help with costs.

p.s. Isn't the Eterious in St. Martin which is lovely, but it isn't Val Thorens.
