Poster: A snowHead

What a result. I have just booked 2 single rooms with Mark Warner for next year and received a £75 pp early booking discount. However it was only when I got to the payment page there was no option to add ski carriage so I gave them a call. It was at this point that I was offered a £50 pay in full discount.
The lady taking the booking then suggested I made 2 seperate bookings so we got the £50 discount applied to both, double result.
I definitely believe that if you know exactly where you want to go and want single rooms, early booking is the way to go.

Obviously A snowHead isn't a real person

I agree if you know where/when you want to go book it early.
I wanted a single room and booked next December's trip 4 weeks ago. I'm not going with MW but I'm only paying £430 for the week, MW would have been quite a lot more.

Well, the person's real but it's just a made up name, see?

welshflyer,
Yes MW is somewhat more expensive. But I doubt you could get the full MW type package for anything near £430 from anyone, the evening meal alone with wine has to be worth £200.

Aye, but IMHO was completely over the top for a ski holiday. Don't get me wrong, the food is good, but it's hardly fuel for a skiing holiday. I was still hungry after the starter and maincourse one night, so opted for the apple crumble, expecting a nice bit of stodge. What I actually got would I think have been described on Masterchef as a "deconstructed apple crumble" - it was a few cubes of cooked apples, a teeny weeny bit of custard and a few bits of powder (which I think was intended to be the crumble) scattered over the top.
I enjoyed the experience of travelling with Mark Warner, but I'd be more than happy to pay less and get less. After all, nice as it was to have my bag delivered to my room, I can manage to do that myself.

Anyway, snowHeads is much more fun if you do.

sugarmoma666,
I have to say I totally disagree, the last time I went with MW to Tignes the chalet cooked up a full English every morning and the evening meal was restaurant quality and the portions were very adequate and I'm no lightweight. The guy I have booked with has been to where we are going and he says it is better than the one in Tignes.
I think people's idea of MW prices might be out of date, we have paid £823 each and for that we get :
Return flights from Manchester
Ski carriage
Transfers
A week half board at Chalethotel Tarentase (true ski in/out)
Ski hosting
Most importantly we stay in small double rooms with no supplement
And everything else you get with a MW package.
Yes I too can manage to take my bags to the room and usually do, but I prefer someone else to do it whilst I am having a pint.

Kel,
I went with MW last month and will next week.
But next December compared to MW I'll pay £300 less with another tour operator who fly at civilised times and I know I can take my own skis. I don't need the ski hosting but I will miss not having a bar in the hotel, I'll probably nip across to the MW pub. I won't get a choice of starter, mains or dessert but the food is probably of a higher standard than MW.

welshflyer, and I'm sure you'll have a very good time, enjoy. For me it's the single room that's the deal clincher.

dsoutar,
Your question is an anagram of my answer to your question.
I assume you're one of John's guests too.

You are of course relying on Mark Warner not to fold. I know there are all sorts of refunds available, including from your credit card company, but the would all be a hassle to get, and they would take time. Is MW at risk from folding? Don't know, but their profits have not been stellar in the past. Personally, I'd forego the discount and pay when required only.
