Driving to Morzine via Dover Calais and Geneva airport in a couple of weeks in our VW Shuttle LWB Minibus. Read somewhere that the toll charges on french motorways are more expensive for minibuses! Would be grateful for any information. Thanks

We use the telepeage lanes in Renault Trafics and pay the same as cars!
If you can use the aurot booths (ie less than 2m) then you will too!!

Defender, Height seems to be the important factor A minibus is class 2 if you are over 2m or Class 1 (same as a car if under 2m) you can calculate your tolls on this page

Expect to pay as below IF charged at Class 1 car prices.
The tolls are 72.50 so that's €145.00 there and back (Roughly £130.00)

Diesel last Sunday was €1.13 in Calais, around €1.18/1.20 on the autoroute and €1.03 in the Hypermarket at Albertville.

Thanks for that information we are under 2 meters high (1.964) so sounds as if there will be no additional charges. Do we have to pay to go into/out of Switzerland (Geneva Airport) some kind of permit has been mentioned? Thanks again.

Defender, Yes you need a Motorway Vignette for Switzerland. Others will advise how to buy one. BUT there is a route into Geneva French side which avoids the Swiss Motorway and thus having to need a Vignette. Again othe sH's will help on this one.

Defender, you can buy the motorway vignette (and indeed will probably have no choice about doing so) when you cross into Switzerland - presumably at the Bernex border point if you're coming off the A40. 40 swiss francs. If you want to avoid the charge it's not too difficult (and you can drive to the Swiss side without any problems) by just using the ordinary roads instead - I've never done it coming from the west but shouldn't be a problem, and the airport is well signposted in Geneva. All signposts in Geneva will take you to the Swiss side. But if you're going a long way, and sharing costs, paying the extra to use the motorway and a vignette will save hassle and get you to Morzine earlier.

If you come into Switzerland on the A40 at Bardonnex then you will definitely be stopped and you will have to buy one as you are on the autoroute 'A1' in Switzerland - it gives the customs officers something to do now that passports aren't asked for 
There are about another 7 or 8 border posts into the Geneva area where you won't be asked to buy a vignette as they come in via local roads. In the unlikely event that they do ask, just say that you're not using an Autoroute in your time in Switzerland. The border crossing at Ferney-Voltaire is the nearest to the airport, but Geneva isn't such a big place for any of the entrances, but can get very busy during rush hour.

Until recently I'd have said exactly the same, but several times recently (usually, but not always, when it's busy) I've sailed through with nobody looking at anything. Maybe they're economising on border staff; there always seemed to be masses of them standing round in the past. However, even if you're not forced to buy one, it would be wise, because the spot fine for being on a motorway without one is stiff.

They are CHF40 and you can buy them in advance from the Swiss Travel websites. The fine for not having one is CHF100 and you have to buy one as well.

Make sure you buy from the UK based site. The swiss based on will sting you with a DHL courier charge to deliver

Yep. Probably the best way. Just make sure you have CHF40 in your pocket (although I assume they will probably accept Euros too).

Just done the exact route in the exact same vehicle, i.e: LWB VW transporter Shuttle. Prices were ALL class 1 - no bother, just don't carry a roof box.
