Log in to snowHeads to make it MUCH better! Registration's totally free, of course, and makes snowHeads easier to use and to understand, gives better searching, filtering etc. as well as access to 'members only' forums, discounts and deals that U don't even know exist as a 'guest' user. (btw. 50,000+ snowHeads already know all this, making snowHeads the biggest, most active community of snow-heads in the UK, so you'll be in good company)..... When you register, you get our free weekly(-ish) snow report by email. It's rather good and not made up by tourist offices (or people that love the tourist office and want to marry it either)... We don't share your email address with anyone and we never send out any of those cheesy 'message from our partners' emails either. Anyway, snowHeads really is MUCH better when you're logged in - not least because you get to post your own messages complaining about things that annoy you like perhaps this banner which, incidentally, disappears when you log in :-)

Trespass Ski Jacket

 Poster: A snowHead
Poster: A snowHead
I am eyeing up the Trespass Ski Jackets on Sports Pursuit and I am getting very tempted.

I am looking at the ones which are described as:

•Waterproof 15000mm
•Breathable 8000mvp
•Windproof
•Taped Seams

It is also described as Lightly Padded. I tend to feel the cold and would like the jacket to feel warm. Does anybody has a similar spec'd one from Trespass who could comment on how warm is feels?

Thanks

I have Trespass Jack Salopettes.

Lightly padded and same spec as above,

Last year in La Rosiere the windchill was minus 24 c and my legs were fine.

I also have a Trespass companion Jacket same spec, and again with a fleece under it i was warm and dry.

They are good value for money

Yes, I had one, £50 in T K Maxx, was super and I wore it over 3 seasons. I replaced it because I got bored with it, and it was rather faded - it was still going strong. It had a nice cosy collar.

I have a Trespass jacket too, just about to enter its fourth season of use. I don't think it's waterproof or breathable but it's certainly warm.

Thanks all. They have them at a price I am happy to pay (as long as they are warm and well made), plus we have money sitting in paypal for stuff we have sold recently. Just got to convince hubby now.

NickyJ,

I think there is a lot of snobbery with ski gear,

Trespass does what it says on the label, and doesn't cost silly money, plus as Pam states, if they are cheap and you get bored with the colours, change em and it doesn't break the bank.

Just throw a warm midlayer underneath it (I'm a fan of high loft fleece, but there are plenty of choices). That way you'll be able to ditch the midlayer in the event of warmer weather and still use the jacket instead of turning into a sweaty mess.

I already have lots of fleece and thermal layers but when I am sitting still I seriously feel the cold. When I was a kid, During sitting summer exams 23 degrees outside my hands would go blue with cold!

I have put the order in.

Thanks

There's always room for improvement... not all mid and base layers are created equal after all. Incidentally, if you're just piling on layer after layer in an attempt to stay warm, you're probably Doing It Wrong and would probably benefit quite a lot from a bit of a rethink about your underlayers.

Well, either you've got truly terrible circulation, or you're some sort of ectothermic reptile in disguise. One solution is to take up ski touring, which handily removes the "sitting still" issue Little Angel

NickyJ, do you use the tea-bag handwarmers? They make a big difference. And electric footwarmers, too. Skiing's no fun if you're cold.

I'll look into those thanks Pam. While moving I am fine don't tend to over heat though, it is just a case of keeping myself warm on lifts. Fingers crossed.

I've got a Traspass jacket at the moment, very pleased with it. It's kept me warm at -30 deg windchill in LDA last year and I would describe it as low bulk. I do, however, wear a midlayer jacket thingy I got from Decathlon underneath, but prefer that to looking like the marshmallow woman!!

 You know it makes sense.
You know it makes sense.
I've used Trespass, Surfanic and TOG24 both outside everyday stuff and on the mountain and they are very capable and in general well made. They most likely come from the same factories as the branded stiff which costs 3-10times the price and that expensive poo-poo is not made by pixies from Mithril or any magical fabrics. At the end of the day they nearly all use polyester and some fibre fill.

Any outdoor jacket which purports any form or water resistance ie shower proof or water proof should have taped seams, as in general this was the fault with older pre 80s outdoor kit.

I had a Mascot motorcycle suit made from vinyl/rubber which is completely impervious to water......guess what, it leaked.....yup, at the seams Smile

Trespass, Surfanic and TOG 24 are about equivalent to a lot of the brands InterSports sell in the national shops all across Europe that aren't the usual labels.

It all sounds good. It is on order but as it is Sports Pursuit it will be about 4weeks until I get them. I just hope they fit OK.

Thanks again.

Or maybe keeps it as a spare and or uses it as an every day jacket? Which is what I am doing with my old one.
