Mail for help.Help!!

Log in to snowHeads to make it MUCH better! Registration's totally free, of course, and makes snowHeads easier to use and to understand, gives better searching, filtering etc. as well as access to 'members only' forums, discounts and deals that U don't even know exist as a 'guest' user. (btw. 50,000+ snowHeads already know all this, making snowHeads the biggest, most active community of snow-heads in the UK, so you'll be in good company)..... When you register, you get our free weekly(-ish) snow report by email. It's rather good and not made up by tourist offices (or people that love the tourist office and want to marry it either)... We don't share your email address with anyone and we never send out any of those cheesy 'message from our partners' emails either. Anyway, snowHeads really is MUCH better when you're logged in - not least because you get to post your own messages complaining about things that annoy you like perhaps this banner which, incidentally, disappears when you log in :-)

Hey SnowHeads!

Anyone going to Alagna, Italy for the week of 26th of Jan and looking for company and, possibly, lodging? We are going to be with 5 snowboarders (both male and female), 2 coming only for 3 days.

Cheers!

Hi Vlad

Me and a friend are going to Champoluc (same skiarea) on the 26th. I'm an advanced skier while my friend is intermediate and also without any off-pist experience.
If you have any plans for some off-piste adventures and need an extra skier to cut the costs of a guide please feel free to contact me.

Hey Henrik,

Good stuff! I doubt we'll be looking for adventures on the first couple of days but after a bit of warmup, definitely! You are welcome to join! Lets chat next week when we are there!

Cheers

Hi Henrik, we're heading out for a week from Sunday 27, and I think we'll be hiring a guide for one or two days to explore some of the off-piste. That's if it's worth it - all forecasts of good snow seem to have vanished now, but things can change rapidly. Send me a private message if you're interested in forming part of a group one day. We'll be based in Gressoney, and probably skiing from the Punta Indren above Alagna.

Hi guys,
If you wanna huck up with our group (Vlad (who started ths thread), myself and another snowboarded) this week, we booked a guide from Alagna for Tuesday 29th of Jan, it'll be 290 euros for up to 4 riders and if we are more its 330 euros. We are leaving today, and I dont know if we'll have acces to internet there, so give us a call on 0031647504798.

OK, I'll keep an eye on the conditions and maybe give you a ring if it's looking favourable. Do you know the area? If so, any idea where you might be heading?

Its the first time we are in the area, so it'll be touch and go the first two days. I suspect we'll be mostly on the Alagna freeride area, though we'll also get around the Gressoney pistes because that's where we rented the ABS equipment. Maybe see you around! snowHead

Where did you hire the ABS equipment? I'm looking to hire avalanche transceivers (we have probes and shovels). We're hiring our skis from Ambaradanspitz in Staffal and I've been in touch with them about transceiver hire but I've not heard back yet. I believe that when you go from the Punta Indren lift, avalanche gear is mandatory (although the avalanche risk should be at its lowest at the moment).

J2R,
I don't manage to send personal messages.
As I understand from mailexchange with guide in Champoluc -"offpiste yes, powder not really"
I don't know what that means exactly but anyway, this is my phonenr. +46761044111

It means he's happy to take us off-piste but the chances of finding powder snow over a month after the last significant snowfall are slim, I would think Smile. I'll probably be in touch when I'm out there - I arrive Sunday. We'll need to get our 'ski feet' for a day or so, but after that it may be worth hiring a guide. You're probably way better than us, if the Swedish skiers I've seen in the Monte Rosa area are anything to go by, but as long as you're prepared to wait around and not laugh too much...
