Mail for help.Help!!

Log in to snowHeads to make it MUCH better! Registration's totally free, of course, and makes snowHeads easier to use and to understand, gives better searching, filtering etc. as well as access to 'members only' forums, discounts and deals that U don't even know exist as a 'guest' user. (btw. 50,000+ snowHeads already know all this, making snowHeads the biggest, most active community of snow-heads in the UK, so you'll be in good company)..... When you register, you get our free weekly(-ish) snow report by email. It's rather good and not made up by tourist offices (or people that love the tourist office and want to marry it either)... We don't share your email address with anyone and we never send out any of those cheesy 'message from our partners' emails either. Anyway, snowHeads really is MUCH better when you're logged in - not least because you get to post your own messages complaining about things that annoy you like perhaps this banner which, incidentally, disappears when you log in :-)

New Fritschi Binding

Looks interesting... Alpine/DIN style release? Competition for the Dynafit Beast?

Btw, do Black Diamond own Fritschi? Or are they getting behind them as the new Dynafit pins (apparently) won't work with BD's tech fittings (moulded in so can't unscrew to replace with the new version, I think)?

Can't help thinking that some of the key intrinsic benefits of 'Tech', like their stiffness and sheer mechanical simplicity, may be lost as more flex and play is added to build in Alpine style release features.

Well, the person's real but it's just a made up name, see?

Yep and IMO, despite their weight, Dynafits ski better than Fritschis because of their stiffness and low profile and also seem more secure because of their mechanical simplicity. But granted, their minimalist design yields low weight and that was most certainly their original design intent. I just thought that adding stuff might detract from that 'less is more' recipe.

Anyway, snowHeads is much more fun if you do.

Fritschis have never exactly had a rep for being great for the downhill though. I've never yet skied with Dynafits (got the boots sorted this season, bindings will come next), but most people (on the internet at least lol) seem to say alpine bindings ski better than tech...

^ Yep, and I honestly can't feel (or remember) the difference between Dynafits and my old Marker Alpine bindings. Interesting reading through those comments, people considering stuff I wouldn't even think about like 'Looks to have a very flat ramp angle.' Main benefit according to wildsnow Lou would be flex adjustment which I guess would appeal to heavy landers or bendy ski users. My only thought is, £how much£ ?

Got Dynafit Radical bindings this season. Only skied three days so far (Chamonix/Courmayeur/Verbier from Saturday Cool ), but didn't notice a difference except while trying to put them on in powder...
