Help!!
Log in to snowHeads to make it MUCH better!
Registration's totally free, of course, and makes snowHeads easier to use and to understand, gives better searching, filtering etc. as well as access to 'members only' forums, discounts and deals that U don't even know exist as a 'guest' user. (btw. 50,000+ snowHeads already know all this, making snowHeads the biggest, most active community of snow-heads in the UK, so you'll be in good company)..... When you register, you get our free weekly(-ish) snow report by email. It's rather good and not made up by tourist offices (or people that love the tourist office and want to marry it either)... We don't share your email address with anyone and we never send out any of those cheesy 'message from our partners' emails either. Anyway, snowHeads really is MUCH better when you're logged in - not least because you get to post your own messages complaining about things that annoy you like perhaps this banner which, incidentally, disappears when you log in :-)

Greetings all. We are off to Meribel in Feb, staying near the base of the Morel Chair. We should arrive in time for a couple of hours skiing on the first afternoon and wondered what options there are without buying a lift pass. We know there are some reasonable free drags in Courchevel, but not sure about Meribel.
I think there is the possibility of getting a free bus up to Mottaret and then skiing back down the green Truite to the Chaudanne from where we can either repeat or get home by bus (can anyone confirm). But if there are any better of different alternatives that would be helpful. Don't need anything too fantastic (and being cheapskates we can't expect much!) but a couple of reasonable runs to get our ski legs before the real first day would be useful.
Thanks in anticipation
Dave

There's a beginners pass that gives you access to the small Altiport area, if that's any good? Not free though.
Well, the person's real but it's just a made up name, see?

Yes there are. The lifts with the little yellow boxes on them on this piste map are free

There are a few that I can see.
Anyway, snowHeads is much more fun if you do.

You'd have to take the bus up to the altiport then use the button from there. I thought the Morel was a free lift but it's not shown as one on there.
