Requesting advice .... and it's about helmets (about which I know not a lot at all)
/ducks for cover
I'm in the unfortunate position of having a head that's a bit larger than average* and am looking to buy one soon.
Which brands do the XXXXXL versions of helmets please?
Also I am bypassing Bicester at the weekend and recall reading that there was a skiing outlet there that is highly recommended (though for skiis more than helmets), who is it please?
Best Regards,
Womble
* Wombles have very big heads and the noses tends to get in the way of the chinguard.
* seriously... most people measure my head and just gulp; there's usually a headgear category of 'we can't make them any bigger than this' and I can sometimes get into these

womble, you might struggle - I'd phone a few places. My only sensible suggestion is that you change the thread title to read "Where can I buy an XXXXL helmet?". Might get more focussed replies.

womble,
The Demon Helmets in an XL go from 61 to 64cm, which is pretty big!
The shop in Bicester was Beans, it has been shut for a couple of years, or there is Solutions 4 Feet but he is boots

i had just finished checking the showshepherd site and was about to suggest it as its in the same county could be a quick trip......
also some of the prices are a little confusing on the site chap, take a look at the helmets page as an example.

womble, now Beans has gone there's not a lot in Bicester worth stopping for (unless as livetoski, suggests you want boots). Bicester Village seem to have turfed out most of the sportswear/ski wear shops (Helly/Tog24, sure there used to be more), the only one I can think of is North Face, but their ski range is usually limited in the shop. There's a Cotswold Outdoor just outside Bicester.
If you're in Northamptonshire you could try Two Seasons http://www.twoseasons.co.uk/info/Stores or head to MK and check out the shops at Xscape.
I've resisted making any reference to Frank Sidebottom.

womble, depending on the shape of your head, Smith Variant and Vantage might be worth a look. I think they also supposedly run up to 65cm but I have heard that they are a very round fit

Yep Giro G9
I use Giro for biking, skiing and kayaking. They're the only ones that come close to being big enough. Even then I occasionally have to gouge out a bit of polystyrene with a hot spoon to make them even bigger.

Another vote for Smith or Giro here. Made on a 'Merkin head mould so rather larger overall.
