Finally with 4 weeks to go we have maybe possibly decided to go skiing!
We have been to vaujany but not since 2000, and are looking at this or somewhere else cheap and cheerful. Ok it is half term (lol)
Key things is a large ski area, plenty of cruising around, some trickier stuff. Easy ish to drive to. Friendly and not party, party.
We are a family of 4, last time we went to tignes and loved it but I broke my ACL, so want somewhere v v gentle. 2 girls, 11 and 13 who want to ski but are not speed queens. Husband wants more exciting stuff but knows we need to stick together whilst I get my confidence back.
So Saint Sorlin, is it as nice as it looks or are the lifts still old and creaky as it is half term. Vaujany is a known quantity but not ski in ski out
Please help

you might find it much better to book yourself into a ski school group at your level and not worrying about him "holding back". Can't comment on those resorts; hope you find something good.

Well, the person's real but it's just a made up name, see?

I might do a day or so, and he can go off and I'll muck about with the kids. I never used to hold him back, I'm just nervous this time.

not surprising, after such a serious injury. Give yourself plenty of time and space. When you decide where to go you could probably get some local knowledge on here about ski instructors for a private lesson or two. Though the chances of their having any vacancies for half term week might now be slim.

Anyway, snowHeads is much more fun if you do.

Crunchie13, I've been to St Sorlin twice at half term but not since 2007. Yes it's very nice, it's a big area but there isn't really any tricky stuff at least on piste. Parts of the lift system were antiquated then but I believe they've upgraded parts since then. I put a trip report together based on half term 2006/7 http://snowheads.com/ski-forum/viewpost.php?p=277919
