Help!!
Log in to snowHeads to make it MUCH better!
Registration's totally free, of course, and makes snowHeads easier to use and to understand, gives better searching, filtering etc. as well as access to 'members only' forums, discounts and deals that U don't even know exist as a 'guest' user. (btw. 50,000+ snowHeads already know all this, making snowHeads the biggest, most active community of snow-heads in the UK, so you'll be in good company)..... When you register, you get our free weekly(-ish) snow report by email. It's rather good and not made up by tourist offices (or people that love the tourist office and want to marry it either)... We don't share your email address with anyone and we never send out any of those cheesy 'message from our partners' emails either. Anyway, snowHeads really is MUCH better when you're logged in - not least because you get to post your own messages complaining about things that annoy you like perhaps this banner which, incidentally, disappears when you log in :-)

A snowHead
Hi
Looks like I'll be heading to Praz de Lys Sommand for a week in February and a little concerned about the range of skiing. A few questions, 1) does anyone know of any guides in the area? 2)anyone know of any decent off-piste and where to access it? (I've been reading several of the French forums and the locals claim there is a fair amount but they're all being very hush-hush about where the best stuff is!) 3) If not what is the access to Les Gets (Portes du Soleil) like from there?
Thanks.

, if you have a car with you then its a quick easy drive to Les Gets and you can park at the entrance to the village at the bottom of the Perrieres lift and buy lift passes there. Just on the first roundabout by the Chinfrey hotel.
We usually enjoy a day or so skiing over in Praz de Lys - generally a distinct lack of Brit voices too which makes a nice change.
I expect if you look at their tourist website you will get links to guides.
Afraid I can't help with off piste stuff but I also hear that it is good.
Well, the person's real but it's just a made up name, see?

, always a good day or two to be had in Praz and yes it is very French and you do get teh distinct impression they want to keep it that way! (it's part of its' appeal to me)

This is my first post,so hope it is of some use.
There is nice powder at pras.
It is
1 up to the left front face of the first lift
2 off the back to skiers left of that lift
3 in the big black bowl skiers left of the top lift
4 pockets off the short black far left of the resort
Cheap weekend lift pass deals at the moment
It's a really fun place to ski and not too busy.
Also recommend
Abondance 10 euros a day !
Bernex
Bellevaux Hermitaz les Haberes cheap 14 euro on wednesdays
Happy skiing
Rob
Anyway, snowHeads is much more fun if you do.

Thanks for all the replies so far, very useful information. We'll have a car so will maybe head over to Les Gets for a day at least and possibly check out the other local spots. Getting pretty excited about going now, only one week to go!
I'll try and remember to write up a review of everything once I get back (but it may have to be in French to keep the locals happy!)
