Help!!
Log in to snowHeads to make it MUCH better!
Registration's totally free, of course, and makes snowHeads easier to use and to understand, gives better searching, filtering etc. as well as access to 'members only' forums, discounts and deals that U don't even know exist as a 'guest' user. (btw. 50,000+ snowHeads already know all this, making snowHeads the biggest, most active community of snow-heads in the UK, so you'll be in good company)..... When you register, you get our free weekly(-ish) snow report by email. It's rather good and not made up by tourist offices (or people that love the tourist office and want to marry it either)... We don't share your email address with anyone and we never send out any of those cheesy 'message from our partners' emails either. Anyway, snowHeads really is MUCH better when you're logged in - not least because you get to post your own messages complaining about things that annoy you like perhaps this banner which, incidentally, disappears when you log in :-)

I have an APO Amanite from 2006 that I bought as a second board to stop me wearing out my trusty Arbor. The last time I used it I remember finding it hard to turn so it's been neglected for a while. I thought I would give it another try this weekend and it was so bad that it was actually dangerous. After catching an edge on a lumpy blue run I rented a board for the rest of the day.
Does anyone know why this might be? The board used to turn so easily that I am convinced that it is effectively "broken" inside but I don't know if this is possible. I've heard of well used boards losing their "pop" but can the same thing happen to the torsional rigidity of the board making it hard to turn?
I'm not looking to fix it - I'm not going to ride it again. I'm just curious whether anyone on here with board construction experience can help?

, They can delaminate internally but you can usually hear that as a 'slight crackling noise' when you bend and/or twist them. You should also be able to feel a weakness by hand when you do that. They feel 'dead' or unevenly 'springy'.
Well, the person's real but it's just a made up name, see?

Well my old Arbor (RIP) delaminated just behind the rear binding a couple of years ago... At that point I switched to the Apo but it appeared to have the beginnings of the same problem...
That was when I started to have problems turning it but I wasn't totally sure it wasn't all in my head.
After being quite happy to use my Jones for the last few trips I thought I would give the Apo one last chance and it was definitely a physical (not mental) problem. I didn't hear any crackling sounds but I doubt I would have heard that over my cursing and swearing anyway...
I'll have a go at flexing it tonight when I've taken the bindings off...

A disadvantage of the darkside I'm afraid.
