Poster: A snowHead
|
Evening all,
Well I've found some amazing deals on the aforementioned skis and I need to know which would suit me best?
Novice skier but already hitting the black runs.
6ft / 88kg
I'm after a ski that will be stable at speed and take a good pounding since I'm quite an aggressive skier.
Not too fussed about them being the best off-piste ski since I'll probably buy some dedicated powder skis when I'm at 'that' level.
Just wondering if anyone has used any of the skis in question and how you got on with them?
2011 Atomic Blackeye (Ti maybe)
2011 K2 Amp Velocity
2010 K2 Amp Ricoche
2010 K2 Amp Charger
Thanks all in advance,
Ryan

Oh, I forgot to mention that my old man has just bought some Salomon BBR 10.0s in either a 177 or 184. He now doesn't want them but I think they may be a little too much for my abilities?...
Any thoughts?

Well, the person's real but it's just a made up name, see?

Anyone?........
I've just been paid and I'm itching to purchase my own skis!
Spent most of the day reading reviews on all the skis listed and they all have great comments, but which one to go for?!

I'm considering the Carger, so would be interested here.
Ryan, in terms of the BBR - quite the opposite. I spent four days on the 8.9s (didn't know they did a 10?) last spring, and found them easy to ski - in fact, a little too easy. As a novice, you may have some technique issues, much of which will be around you being in the back seat? The BBRs flatter and reward sloppy technique - you'll actually find them easy to ski, and that big shovel hooks you into turns making you feel like the world's best carver! I personally liked them (fabulous things in warm spring slush and wet powder), but wouldn't own them as they'd encourage me to be a bit lazy with my technique.
Good skis if you want to be adventurous on different terrains - I'd consider nicking them from your pa!

Anyway, snowHeads is much more fun if you do.

Hmmm, well after even MORE research I've been slightly put off by K2s integrated bindings (heard a few horror stories of not being able to get hold of parts etc)... However, everyone has been raving about the Chargers which are the 'new' Apache which was a well known and loved ski.
My friend has thrown a curve ball at me though and has suggested some Salomon Enduro XT850/800s... He has a set of the 800s and swears by them. He too is 85kg+ and says they react really well but they're not as fast as some top end skis he's used before...
Thoughts chaps?!
PS: I'll sell you the BBR10.0's at a good price
