Off to Cham for a long weekend in january, and have always had a hankering to do the Pas de Chèvre. It looks like the exit can be a bit tricky, and involves a world of pain if you get it wrong - so I've decided to hire a guide. I know that it's possible the PdC might not be in nick, but I guess a guide's always going to know somewhere to go to have some fun. I've done most of the stuff near the lifts in Argentiere so whilst I'm a long way from being an expert I can get down most stuff until it gets really steep/narrow/cruddy.
I'll be with a group of nine, so I might manage to get another two or three people to share the cost, but in any event I'm tempted to take the plunge and hire someone to get it done - as I've looked down from the top loads of times and never done it.
So - I've searched on here for recommendations but not found any specific names - but I always think it's good to get some personal recommendation. Has anyone used a guide in Chamonix for off-piste stuff who they'd be happy to recommend? I've got a couple of names in mind anyway from a google search, but if anyone knows anyone who's good fun, knows their stuff and won't let me fall off any cliffs that'd be great.

Hi Andy, I skied PdC on Sunday with a group of mates, in perfect conditions - one short ab at the end which we could have avoided if we had too. Skied all way down to Chamonix so should be well in condition for your long weekend. With tracked snow, good visibility and a read of the guide finding the route was ok.

Thanks all - have a day's guiding with a chap called Neil Hitchings booked for two weeks today, with PdC as one thing to do, but Neil was saying he's been down there three times in a day, so we should get some more done as well.
Then I've got a day touring with Simon H booked in the PdS, so it'll be interesting to see where we get to!
