Log in to snowHeads to make it MUCH better! Registration's totally free, of course, and makes snowHeads easier to use and to understand, gives better searching, filtering etc. as well as access to 'members only' forums, discounts and deals that U don't even know exist as a 'guest' user. (btw. 50,000+ snowHeads already know all this, making snowHeads the biggest, most active community of snow-heads in the UK, so you'll be in good company)..... When you register, you get our free weekly(-ish) snow report by email. It's rather good and not made up by tourist offices (or people that love the tourist office and want to marry it either)... We don't share your email address with anyone and we never send out any of those cheesy 'message from our partners' emails either. Anyway, snowHeads really is MUCH better when you're logged in - not least because you get to post your own messages complaining about things that annoy you like perhaps this banner which, incidentally, disappears when you log in :-)

Alpe D'Huez, Les Arcs, Val D'Isere or La Plagne

We are a mixed ability group heading to France in mid-March - we range from beginners to competent intermediate skiers and a couple of boarders.
Our first choice of resort was Alpe D'huez but have been a little put off by the talk of sunny/icy/slushy South-facing slopes at that time of year. Is it really a big problem?
Which of our other choices - Val D'Isere, Les Arcs or La Plagne - would people recommend if ADH is a no no? It needs to cater for our mixed abilities and have decent, but not particularly raucous, apres ski.

yes it really can be a problem, depends on the temps you get but bad snow in the main valley makes the run home miserable imo. Les Arcs 1800/1600 have the same problem (scraped rather than slushy ime) arc 2000/1950 not so much. La Plagne or Tignes hold up better (apart from route to vanoise in la plagne), Val D'Isere slushy low, but it doesn't matter so much as lots of folks download anyway and the runs suit being slushy better (imo). hope it helps - all are good areas!

I don't think you should be put off. I've never found ADH to suffer any more or less than the others you mention.
