Mail for help.Help!!

Log in to snowHeads to make it MUCH better! Registration's totally free, of course, and makes snowHeads easier to use and to understand, gives better searching, filtering etc. as well as access to 'members only' forums, discounts and deals that U don't even know exist as a 'guest' user. (btw. 50,000+ snowHeads already know all this, making snowHeads the biggest, most active community of snow-heads in the UK, so you'll be in good company)..... When you register, you get our free weekly(-ish) snow report by email. It's rather good and not made up by tourist offices (or people that love the tourist office and want to marry it either)... We don't share your email address with anyone and we never send out any of those cheesy 'message from our partners' emails either. Anyway, snowHeads really is MUCH better when you're logged in - not least because you get to post your own messages complaining about things that annoy you like perhaps this banner which, incidentally, disappears when you log in :-)

Has anyone used or puchased these goggles? I always just use a cheap headcam on my helmet but saw this recently advertised and couldn't resist!!

Prefer to use a Go Pro myself, the HERO 3 has recently come out and nocks spots off the goggles in terms of frame rate etc.

Well, the person's real but it's just a made up name, see?

Have got the goggles (present from wife last year) just awaiting the snow to try in anger! Resisted the urge to start walking round the house with them on as not skiing until late Jan

The 1.5-2hr battery life is the killer. I think they'd be good for the occasions I don't have my drift-cam with me and just want to capture something.

I'm also not sure if that battery life has been measured at mountain temperatures. It makes a HUGE difference to battery life

What do you get in terms of indication (eg sounds/lights) that you are recording or have taken a pic?

I'd be worried about when you're having a sneaky pee at the side of the slopes and as all us blokes do take a quick look at the old fella and you forgot to stop recording and put it on the big screen in the chalet/hotel without editing... Oh that would be just hilarious I can see you diving for the TV controls as we speak.

I think (hope!) the winner with it will be to save the faff of getting the camera out of the pocket/rucksack, out of the case, put case back in pocket, glove off & in pocket, switch camera on, wait, etc etc.

I also know a very tech savvy friend who was having a family party at home & his "fruit based" electronics were showing photos all round the house. Low & behold it had trawled up a dodgy pic from an email circulated between work colleagues. Longest 5 secs of his life!!!

Leedsteve - there are a couple of LED's in the centre inside the goggle which are unobtrusive but let you know wether it's recording, on or taking a pic ... maybe I wore it once, OK ...

But the downside of it is, you have to be wearing them to get the footage, I'm not a goggles kind of guy for various reasons so wouldn't work for me and even if I was it limits you to recording from the goggles and stops you getting different viewpoints, Pole, chest, boot, ski/board.

ansta1 - Completely agree. I think it's more aimed at replacing having a camera with you. Go Pro is more of a specialised bit of kit that will beat it hands down but I don't think it's aimed at that market. I think it's more of a stills camera that will do some video. I'm a sunglasses skier myself but occasionally wear goggs. It does cut down your field of view though.
