Poster: A snowHead

A friend of ours is thinking of joining our gang in arc 2000 on Jan 12th.
He is flying to Lyon Airport and wanted to know if there is a regular bus service to les arcs.
Would appreciate any info from those in the know.

Chick, yes. There is a train station located between the short-term and the long-term parking areas. He can take the train from there, probably need to change at Chambery. Only TGVs go from the station at the airport, but there are 4-5 trains a day. The other train station is a good 30 mins away from the airport.
You can book tickets on www.sncf.fr
Otherwise as chocksaway said altibus is a good option.

The trains from Lyon airport are not that frequent and take a long time. IMHO it is better to get the bus from the airport to the Part-Dieu station in the centre of Lyon. This is the main station in Lyon, the one at the airport was built so the main Paris - Marseilles TGV did not have to go through the crowded railway network in the centre of Lyon. It is a bit of a white elephant. As an aside, the proposed highspeed rail network in Britain plans a very similar concept at Birmingham airport.
IIRC the trains from Part-Dieu are direct, but the ones from the airport you change at Chamberey and possibly Aix as well
Anyway look at http://www.voyages-sncf.com for the train timetable. As others have pointed out altibus is a more expensive alternative. See what fits your schedule best

There's an express tram now into Part-Dieu, not cheap but faster.

Ithink the Altibus seems the easiest option for him.
