Mail for help.Help!!

Log in to snowHeads to make it MUCH better! Registration's totally free, of course, and makes snowHeads easier to use and to understand, gives better searching, filtering etc. as well as access to 'members only' forums, discounts and deals that U don't even know exist as a 'guest' user. (btw. 50,000+ snowHeads already know all this, making snowHeads the biggest, most active community of snow-heads in the UK, so you'll be in good company)..... When you register, you get our free weekly(-ish) snow report by email. It's rather good and not made up by tourist offices (or people that love the tourist office and want to marry it either)... We don't share your email address with anyone and we never send out any of those cheesy 'message from our partners' emails either. Anyway, snowHeads really is MUCH better when you're logged in - not least because you get to post your own messages complaining about things that annoy you like perhaps this banner which, incidentally, disappears when you log in :-)

Transfer vs Car Hire & Parking in Plagne Soleil

 Poster: A snowHead
Poster: A snowHead
Hi Everyone

I have been looking at a couple of options for getting from Geneva to Plagne Soleil for out week in January (12-19th).

Transfers have been looking around the €600 mark for the 4 of us. I have looked at hiring a 4x4/MPV and this looks to be pretty reasonable even after allowing for Tolls/Fuel etc. My question is: Could anyone give me some indiaction of the costs to park the car in resort? I have tried calling the numbers for the carparks I have found online but havent gotten very far.

Any help/advice would be most appreciated.

Thanks

Paul

Paul81, The resort opens this Saturday so I guess you may get an answer then or maybe Monday. Have you looked at www.ski4funtransfers.co.uk may be worth e mailing them for a special snowHeads quote as I guess the week of Jan 12th will be pretty quiet.

Paul81, you won't need a 4 x 4 - might be cheaper hiring a regular car - if it's the Swiss side of Geneva you'll have snow tyres (check there are chains too).

If the rear seats slit 30/70 you should get your skis in with no problem. There is plenty of room in the back for boots. What other luggage are you taking? I cannot remember any problem with 4 of us in a golf without using a roof rack for the skis.

We did the drive to Plagne Soliel from Grenoble in a 1.2 clio (me driving, two girl passengers) with all the gear and other luggage in a VW Touran TDi with two blokes in it. The clio struggled a little up the hill from Aime - we ended up shifting all the food and extra weight into the VW - but we all got there in the end without hassle. Parking was no issue either... if I remember rightly there were free parking spaces right outside the chalet complexes. The clio didn't move all week but we used the VW as a runaround for having a mooch around.
