When you register, you get our free weekly(-ish) snow report by email. It's rather good and not made up by tourist offices (or people that love the tourist office and want to marry it either)... We don't share your email address with anyone and we never send out any of those cheesy 'message from our partners' emails either. Anyway, snowHeads really is MUCH better when you're logged in - not least because you get to post your own messages complaining about things that annoy you like perhaps this banner which, incidentally, disappears when you log in :-)

Hi,

I have a pair of preachers. 155 at the tip, 112 at the waist and 133 in the tail. Simple question what width of skin should I buy and how should I cut it, straight or to the sidecut?

Lazy option - Buy 110s , shave a little bit at the waist and straight run 'em. Custom option buy at least 130s & cut to sidecut. Obviously better traction the more base you have covered.

fatbob's custom option. Cut 3-5mm narrower than the ski (total, not each side). See
http://youtube.com/v/jY8rrEln4nc though your front end is more likely not to be screwed like his but looped around the bar and turned back on itself. I wish I'd had his Black Diamond cutter!
Mine were unfortunately cut for my last skis which were narrower at tip and tail.

snowball, G3 do a similar tool which is less fiddly for matching the sidecut.
