Log in to snowHeads to make it MUCH better! Registration's totally free, of course, and makes snowHeads easier to use and to understand, gives better searching, filtering etc. as well as access to 'members only' forums, discounts and deals that U don't even know exist as a 'guest' user. (btw. 50,000+ snowHeads already know all this, making snowHeads the biggest, most active community of snow-heads in the UK, so you'll be in good company)..... When you register, you get our free weekly(-ish) snow report by email. It's rather good and not made up by tourist offices (or people that love the tourist office and want to marry it either)... We don't share your email address with anyone and we never send out any of those cheesy 'message from our partners' emails either. Anyway, snowHeads really is MUCH better when you're logged in - not least because you get to post your own messages complaining about things that annoy you like perhaps this banner which, incidentally, disappears when you log in :-)

Anybody tried steep & deep off piste course with Oxygene ski school in La Plagne. I am thinking of booking the five day morning course. I hoping to find out if this course if for off piste experts or people like myself with little off piste experience. Thank for any help Puzzled

RONSTER,

I have done this very course. It was quite excellent. The week I did was in Easter and there were only three people and the guide (Christophe Monet.) We were experienced off-piste skiers - so we skied some steep and quite exposed lines.

I would phone up Oxygene and find out whether they are running a number of groups, or what your options are. They have been very helpful to me over the phone.

Sorry I cannot offer anymore help.

Well, the person's real but it's just a made up name, see?

I had 3 afternoons with Oxygene last year, and it is what it says, steep and deep.
I found it excellent but tough and fair bit of hiking, one in the group had done the Vallee Blanche the year before but said this was harder !!
We had one of the group (of 4) with a fractured shoulder, although to be fair she did this dropping back onto a piste but tiredness was the main factor.
Another joined us but dropped out half way through the afternoon,
The last session was just myself and son (he is 25 btw, ex seasonaire, not for young uns ) Shows how old i 'may' be ?

I'm sure as said above, Oxygene would have something suitable if you explain your ability levels, we just booked in each morning when we had checked conditions.. this was a pre Christmas week tho so not v busy !

If you are playing 'catch up' and 'eating snow' in a group it's no fun and potential for injury is much greater plus you will be to knackered to acheive results..

Would also recomend having 1/2 day sessions rather than full days... 1/2 a day is enough unless you are mega fit !

Hope you find something suitable and ENJOY Very Happy

eta think i have some pics , see if i can load them ..
