Snow and wind stopped today and the sun came out. There is loads of snow, most pistes in good condition, but a bit wind blasted high up. We have only been on piste on an instructor course, but the off piste does not look good, wind scoured, windslab, an crusty stuff interspersed with deep drifts of powder.

Fine and sunny with no wind today. Pistes in perfect condition. Locals reckon there is the best snow for years, it's "how it usedto be".

2 weeks 4 days until we head out to Vallnord. The pile of snow at the end of our friends' house from the snow plough clearing the road is getting so large it is getting close to the front door..... Most years has finished metres away!!

Yet another warm sunny day. A few bare patches on the previously wind scoured pistes, but most stuff still really good.

katedenhaag, Well today was our last day skiing, and it has snowed all day, and it is still coming down heavily! There is definitely more snow than you can shake a stick at. It is cold as well so it's all nice and fluffy.

Did they close any lifts due to wind/visibility, heading out there tomorrow and there is similar winds forecast later on in the week.

All the top half of the mountain closed this afternoon, but what was open was epic. Hope you are not coming from France as the road is closed, we will have to drive out via Spain to Perpignan. The conditions are superb, you will have a great time.

The French don't make much effort to keep the roads open - we always fly to Barcelona if we can. Safe journey home

It's still snowing heavily, another 30cm since last night, but the plough has been round, so we are setting off for Spain, to go round by the coast!

HEading in 2 weeks time. What happens when the roads are closed and how long does it take to go the long way round. We are travelling from Toulouse (normally do spain but flying from Dublin this time). Fingers crossed we get in not worried about getting out lol

gillipepper, Someone trying to get there Saturday afternoon was 20 miles away at 3.30pm, then the road was closed so he had to go around - finally arrived at 9pm, with his car abandoned quarter of a mile up the road from the hotel. Since we had to drive all the way back to the UK we took the only road open out of Andorra to Spain, then went all the way round via Figures and Perpignan - made it 1030 miles home rather than the direct 870. Were planning to get home late last night, but by 2pm were still within sight of the Med! - finally got home at 4.30 this morning.

Just got back from the Grandvalira ski area, what can I say the best snow I have ever skied. During the week I was there we had at least 150cm if not more. Off piste was amazing and on piste was silky smooth. Locals saying the most snow they have had for 20 years. It was on top of a 2ft dump on the Saturday night before we arrived. Next week there is supposed to be an ever bigger dump so if your heading out there it will be awesome. With respect to the roads and getting up there, if your coming from the spanish side it has been pretty reliable, but the french side has been a no go and will almost definitely be closed next week. Anyone flying to Toulouse will be redirected to Barcelona. So you should make it okay.
