Mail for help.Help!!

Log in to snowHeads to make it MUCH better! Registration's totally free, of course, and makes snowHeads easier to use and to understand, gives better searching, filtering etc. as well as access to 'members only' forums, discounts and deals that U don't even know exist as a 'guest' user. (btw. 50,000+ snowHeads already know all this, making snowHeads the biggest, most active community of snow-heads in the UK, so you'll be in good company)..... When you register, you get our free weekly(-ish) snow report by email. It's rather good and not made up by tourist offices (or people that love the tourist office and want to marry it either)... We don't share your email address with anyone and we never send out any of those cheesy 'message from our partners' emails either. Anyway, snowHeads really is MUCH better when you're logged in - not least because you get to post your own messages complaining about things that annoy you like perhaps this banner which, incidentally, disappears when you log in :-)

High-Risk Sport/Activity Research

Interested in the science behind participating in high-risk sports? Why not spare 15 minutes of your time to help advance the research in the field.

We are looking for participants who take part in sports/activities such as skiing. We are also looking for people who take part in other activities/sports which include but are not limited to white water kayaking, skydiving, snowboarding, kitesurfing, paragliding, climbing, mountaineering, motocross etc.

Follow the link below and answer the questionnaire. It only takes about 15 minutes to complete and you will be entered into a prize draw to win £50!

https://survey.psychology.bangor.ac.uk/highrisk/

The research is being conducted to test the psychometric properties of a newly developed inventory for high-risk sport participants with the long-term aim that it could serve future research in the field. Particularly as research regarding the psychology behind high-risk sport participation is currently limited. Getting a participant who participates regularly in your sport (i.e. an informant) is essential to establishing the psychometric properties of the inventory. We do understand that you might feel uncomfortable with disclosing other people contact details, but we ensure that the data will be kept strictly confidential and we will not disclose the entered information to anyone.

If you could pass on the link of the study (https://survey.psychology.bangor.ac.uk/highrisk/) to anyone you know who participates in such activities it would be greatly appreciated.

If you have any questions or query's about the study then please contact me on psu74c@bangor.ac.uk

Many thanks for your time and participation.

Well, the person's real but it's just a made up name, see?

Survey methodology often leads to bias in the type of person who answers the survey. Telephone surveys for example will often result in the phone being hung up, and you will only get any responses from people who own fixed line phones. Online surveys are becoming one of the most irritating thing on the web. Especially pop up online surveys.

Perhaps you should do a survey on the psychology of those that fill in online surveys?

psu, another f**kwit survey that begins with a gross insult to intelligence, demanding our nationality without regard to the melange our society has become and how our mixed roots may influence our behaviour both by nature and our nurture . . . then of course there's the simple insult that takes the Welsh out of Britain with no option for 'English' or 'Scot'.
Anyone who completes this with their own name and adding that of a compatriot is beyond foolish. . . .

In fact I got so fed up with filling in spoof answers to find our where the crap was going I couldn't be assed (yea, I know it's an americanism(sic)) to finish it.

And, of course . . . people who indulge in a high risk sport only ever participate in just the one rolling eyes . . . I can't wait to read the supervisor's response to my email Twisted Evil

AND why the fook do people equate snowboarding with 'high risk'? Weekend rugby has a much higher injury rate but calling that high risk is a joke. There are VERY few real high risk sports and the small number that participate are hardly going to complete a puerile survey. If the muppet posting this wants empirical data, he, she or it should get off their collective ass and participate and evaluate their own experiences against their own psychometric profile.

As a sidebar . . . this has been done soooo many times by before this method that there cannot be much if anything to be gained by regurgitating the old postulations that this data will provoke.

Another blinkered or lazy student . . . belay that, not lazy in practicality . . . but definitely lazy in conjecture/cognisance about what is 'high risk' in today's society.

psu, if you're looking for risk-takers, go down the local greasy spoon and interview people having their morning fry-up and half-pack of Bensons.
