Poster: A snowHead

I'm just trying to book flights for friends in the UK who are coming out to visit us, meeting in Lech in January.
Last year they used the Ryanair Manchester to Memmingen route but whilst most routes are already available to buy on Ryanair.com there are no flights available for that route. They increased the frequency last year I think so presumably it is well used.
I've searched everywhere for any news on it being withdrawn but can't see anything. Does anybody know anything ? Obviously there are alternatives but those flights suited everybody really well.

downhillalltheway, I dont think they have ever flown Manchester/Memmingen. Its Stansted/Memmingen, which is on sale now.

They've flown Manchester to Memmingen 4 times a week for about 3 years. I've done it myself about a dozen times.

Ryanair used to fly to Friedrichshafen it used to be cheap and it made for a quick transfer to Lech, skiing before lunch on arrival. Loaker Tours ran a cheap transfer bus service connecting with the flight. I can't find this anymore, I suppose the train & post bus is possible.
I think the Monarch flights don't look cheap if you are taking bags and skis, might at well use a decent airline to Zurich with Swiss air and use the Arlberg express bus to resort.

It is startling how non-budget the budget airlines are getting now. I've just booked a return flight to Zurich in January with Swiss Air, and it costs less than the same trip with Easyjet and includes ski carriage.

Serriadh, or rather how cheap most flights are now. 35 years ago I expected to pay about the same for the flights as the hotel. You used to get a refund if you chose to go by overnight train with couchettes instead of flying. Now the train is much more expensive.

Yeah, we are living in a bit of an air travel golden age, aren't we? I wonder how long it will last.
I did consider rail travel for my January trip; a bit of research suggests that it could be reasonably price competetive and I like travelling by train. Biggest problem for me was that cheap rail tickets will only be available for a short time period and only 60-odd days before you travel... the cheap flights may be few and far between by then. I opted not to gamble.

Flights are relatively cheap, it's ski carriage that ain't! That said I do Lufthansa MAN-MUC if flying, never O'Leeryair, even if they landed in Feldkirch I'd not use him i'd walk there first. EJ or Lufthansa for me, used to use Swiss ZHR but too expensive in last 2-3 years.

I discovered a few weeks ago when I tried to book it that the Manchester - Memmingen route has been withdrawn. It's a shame as it was great to be on the road within 10 mins of landing!
The wikipedia page for Memmingen is showing the route as ending on 6th Novemember.
