Mail for help.Help!!

Log in to snowHeads to make it MUCH better! Registration's totally free, of course, and makes snowHeads easier to use and to understand, gives better searching, filtering etc. as well as access to 'members only' forums, discounts and deals that U don't even know exist as a 'guest' user. (btw. 50,000+ snowHeads already know all this, making snowHeads the biggest, most active community of snow-heads in the UK, so you'll be in good company)..... When you register, you get our free weekly(-ish) snow report by email. It's rather good and not made up by tourist offices (or people that love the tourist office and want to marry it either)... We don't share your email address with anyone and we never send out any of those cheesy 'message from our partners' emails either. Anyway, snowHeads really is MUCH better when you're logged in - not least because you get to post your own messages complaining about things that annoy you like perhaps this banner which, incidentally, disappears when you log in :-)

He's not too shabby in SG now either.

Immense angulation.

Watched the 2nd run, just totally awesome. Smooth like silk and completely unflappable.

Even the Austrian commentators (some of whom are ex ski racers themselves), who were naturally pro Hirscher were gob smacked at Ted's talent. Their final comment after Ted's run was "err ....well ....kids, watch this at home, over and over again because that's the way to do it".

Quite amazing how he is dominating GS - he really is in a different class at the moment.

Good to see Simonceli (sp?) on the podium.

What I find fascinating about his performances on the new ski lengths is that he was one of the most vocal opponents to the changes last season. Now he is by far and away the best on this new length and he is no longer challenging FIS or talking about how reckless the change is! I wonder how long it will be before the other top racers feel comfortable on them and start to give him a bit more of a challenge? Toofy Grin

Then you can post your own questions or snow reports...

He still is a pretty vocal opponent of them going by an interview I saw over the weekend, says they have made everyone worse but him not as much as others and have also destroyed innovation in the mainstream brands that is what feeds through into improving the skis us mere mortals use.

He doesn't strike me as the type to change his tune on something just because he's winning tbh, he was pretty successful with the old style skis too after all.

They don't call him "Mr GS" for nothing!

Ligety really did look ridiculously slick on that beaver creek run, so solid! Some of the speeds he holds look eye watering to me - would love to know what G-force he was pulling!

Ligety was really proactive in response to the new skis, he put in a load time in the gym, strengthening his legs to give him the power to carve those new skis! It definitely shows. I believe the danger Ligety is referring to with the skis is that if you aren't strong enough to carve the skis, you can't control them well, and then you have an uncontrolled "rigid lever firmly attached to your foot", which is just asking for trouble.

 snowHeads are a friendly bunch.

It's noticeable on the steeper sections how much more he unweights into the turn and stivots, before letting the edges catch and run. All in the blink of an eye. The momentum he carries is awesome...he also seems to be further back in the ski than last year.
I think things will be most noticeable in softer conditions. Later runners won't have a chance on these skis.

And love to help out and answer questions and of course, read each other's snow reports.

I think a combination of Shreds Strength, Flexibility and his sublime technique have all contributed to his incredible form at the start of the season. He is great to watch and his attitude and approach to the sport is something a lot of young athletes could learn from.

Cynic, you can't go out and buy an F1 car and drive the F1 circuits (well, not on normal budgets anyway) but you can go buy the GS skis and ski the same runs if you want to or simply watch and learn.

czl, race skis are not even close to this what you buy in store. But with a bit of searching, you can buy skis, that this particular course was run by some of WC guys... those lower placed ones at least, since for top guys, you can get their skis (not top pairs of course) for free with knowing right people, but you can't buy them, since on end of season, they need to be back in factory. So it's possible to get exactly same material as they run, but it takes a little more effort then just going to your local Intersport.
