Poster: A snowHead
|
We are taking our 7 month old to Les Coches at christmas and plan to use a sledge to drag her around the place.
Am I better off just buying one in resort even though getting one to resort wouldn't be any issue?
What should i be looking for in a baby suitable sledge, any suggestions on where to get one?

Mt, I would look for one with a high back seat and a safety strap. If you can get it there hassle free then I would buy one here because in my experience, and I've bought a couple in resort, sledges are not cheap out there because of the captive audience factor. I would look in places like Decathlon, Halfords, Go Outdoors, Toys R Us and similar. Ideally before we get a sniff of snow here and they sell out.
We had this one http://www.sledges.co.uk/baby-sledges-and-baby-skis/50-baby-luge-by-eda-sledge-for-your-baby-3086960202446.html but I can't remember where I bought it from.
Also I remember seeing a baby sledge which actually had a push handlebar mounted behind it, that would be much easier to manoevre and you could keep an eye on the child too, can't remember what they are called or where I saw them. Also just be aware that littlies get very cold very quickly in sledges; close to the snow and none of the insulation of a pushchair. Enjoy your holiday

Well, the person's real but it's just a made up name, see?

plenty of those (and other kinds) to rent in our resort and, I would have thought, all over. Probably something you can book in advance, like renting skis.
They look like this http://www.charvin-kids.fr/nos-services.html so they keep the kids nicely up off the snow.

I have two of those at my apartment - both picked up at the rubbish containers - obviously people had kids who had outgrown them, and had left them prominently beside the bins in case they were useful for somebody else. They're great fun once kids have pretty well sorted out their necks and heads - not good for littler babies, obviously.
