Not sure if i'm doing something wrong but i find the search function comes up with so much stuff that is hardly related to the search term at all that it basically becomes useless so sorry if this has been covered before. Anyway, i'm sort of half way through buying a pair of 2nd hand skis but finding a reasonably priced courier is proving difficult. Haven't been able to find anything for less than £35 which seems pretty steep for a set of unmounted skis. Does anyone know of any cheap couriers or is it just going to have to be £35?

Tried Pharos Parcels?
I've used them a couple of times and they seem reasonable. You actually get the UPS service, but much cheaper.

el nombre, i got a set of unmounted 179 obsetheds (not sure of the weight) posted to me in northern ireland from england with target express...the guy i bought them off charged me £20 so i assume it cost him £20 or less..........

Interparcel - I recently sold 2 sets of ski's (seperately), they collect from your home and deliver next day for about £12. Just go to their website, pay online, print off the labels, bubble wrap and away you go.

I have always used Pharos, until today when I've switched to interparcel. For posting my Missions + bindings + poles, insured for £171:
Pharos quote was £18.76
Interparcels was £17.08

(2013 atomic punx 171 cm with bindings if anyones interested. sick park skis)
interparcel have quoted me £36 from scotland to alaska via fedex
this is a very impressive quote. to the extent that i am skeptical 
any thoughts / advice particularly on the reliability of this service and...how to package them! inc. mounted bindings

Used interparcel loads and never had a problem with them, didn't really belive it when they quoted me £12 for next day delivery of 5 rifle sized gun cabinet that probably weighed about 40Kg but deliver it next day they did! Oh and the last skis I sold survived with miles of bubble wrap (used the stuff my Armada TSTs came from the Czech republic in) with a cut up cardboard box protecting the bindings.

Sent 2 pairs together via UPS month or so ago for about £15. Just wrapped bindings and ends in bubble wrap and corrugated cardboard, then wrapped the whole lot in heavy duty plastic with lots of parcel tape on; seemed quite well protected and I believe they arrived in tact!

livetoski, I have been waiting for a delivery from Yodel for three days now. They appear to use any old Doris with a car and do not give a toss if the delivery is delayed as they do not consider it a guaranteed service. Customer service is only via an online chat service who have no contact with the relevant depots.

I used Paisley Freight for a set of alloy wheels for winter tyres for the wifes car, no problem with them at all. I bought ski's on e-bay a few years back and the used an advertised courier (via the seller) that way, can't remember the name of that courier now as was a while back, could have even been Paisley. You are better off with a small courier like this I think as they fix prices for set items, skis / wheels etc, rather than weight / size of package as the likes of parcelforce (avoid like the plague in my experience) etc.
