glasgowcyclops, thieved it from the Nevis Range Facebook page (if that's what you mean). It is taken from their car park by looks of it.

Great photo - clearly showing the goose itself flapping its way across Snowgoose Gully!

Some fresh the last couple of days on the Glencoe summit camera. If the temp was a degree or so colder there would be impressive cover up there now because it was like the monsoon season yesterday!
And love to help out and answer questions and of course, read each other's snow reports.

... here's a nice optimistic (for us) article from the Strathspey and Badenoch Herald (Strathy) about the prospects for the winter in Scotland:
... this coming winter is expected to be harder than that of 2009/10.
His long-range forecast that 2011 would be one of the coldest summers for many years – first made in January – has proved to be correct.
Madden said: "As we head towards winter and in terms of the Scottish Highlands, I expect to see the first signs of some moderate to heavy snowfalls as early as October or November.
"In terms of the meteorological winter, I expect December, January, and February to experience below average temperatures, with the worst of the snowfall occurring around November to January."
He said that the impact of low solar activity and ocean behaviour alter atmospheric circulation and block jet stream patterns enhancing moisture in the air which falls as snow.
I also rather like this:
Quote:
It snowed on the highest tops of the Cairngorms at the end of last month. Dr Adam Watson, an expert on the range’s snow patches, said that the snow on the 28th was the most persistent August snowfall since 1945.
Let's hope the speculation is correct and it's another great season for Scottish snow

Lets say that had it not been for the exceptional cool spell at the end of August extending the survival of the last of the winter 2011 snow on CairnGorm Mountain in the Ciste Mhearaidh into the first few days of September, that dusting might well have been getting skied on! As it is such antics can wait for October, a month of nervous weather watching to try and complete the feat of 2 continuous years of linked turns on CairnGorm Mountain every month. Will we get month 24, keep watching those cams!

I ordered an all area pass today. It should at the very least pay for itself and will save me a couple of hundred pounds if the last few seasons are anything to go by. Fingers crossed for a good'n
Some of my favourite memories from 2010-2011 ...

Alans deep bath, that's always been my logic too but I thought I'd tempt fate. I'm planning on an Alps trip at Xmas as well as Easter so may get 40+ days in this season with a bit of luck.
