Poster: A snowHead
|
I have convinced Mrs Snowplowed to go to a ski resort this coming season (which i didn`t think possible after a rather nasty tumble in Les Arcs in January). Anyway I am credit card at the ready, going through the motions with a Monarch flight to munich 2nd Feb - 9th Feb. Before I comitt it is worthy of mention that Mrs Snowplowed isn`t going to ski this year so she is looking for a good town to amble around and do a bit of shopping whilst me and young snowplowed ski for 3/4 days as well as join Mrs S in the town. I am on the verge of booking Kitzbuhel but I am unsure whether 1. Kitz will offer Mrs S enough shopping/entertainment (and) 2. is there enough on piste/off piste fun for me and little S? (I`m advanced, youngster is good intermediate). Any advice would be gratefully received, I do want to get this booked and paid for by 9.30 pm tonight. (no rush then). Woohoo, I`m off to the Alps!!!!!!!!!

Don't know much about Kitzuhel but i would just book it - you can't go wrong. I kept looking at my holiday for days and days and days, then just went ahead and booked it.

Hmm, we went to Kitzbuhel before little farry came along, 2010 I think.
I'd say it's the prettiest ski town over all I think that we've been to. However there are alot of 4-5 star hotels and we found the nightlife and shopping to an extent a bit limited outside the hotels. Don't get me wrong there are some very nice shops and bars but I think to 'hang around' in the town I'd go for St Anton over Kitzbuhel.
Either way you'll have a fab time I'm sure as both are still lovely resorts.

Kutzbuhel is a lovely town, with old walled centre. Mrs S will be fine there. Lots of shops, coffee & cake cafes, swimming pool. She could also get the train to Zell am See for the day. You'll be fine with the skiing there. Book it!!

The owner is a real character, it's a short walk to town, good value for money and lovely inside.

Thank you all for your replies. It`s Kitzbuhel here we come, I have been there when I was 10 (28 years ago) but only for an evening with my Dad whilst staying in Westendorf. Unfortunately I cant remember much of the town but I am confident it will suit us all.

Dear Mr snowplowed,
Kitz is the place for you!
Its a big town and offers a lot more than just about skiing.
Shopping that will make your Credit Card Curl right up.
If there is anything left go to the Casino (not quite James Bond standard)
There are piano bars, jazz bars, pub bars, Stubli's.
There's a great big swimming pool sauna complex
There is even the maddest apres Ski Bar in the Alps ... "The Londoner" (but your wife wont like it
then if your soul needs tidying up ...
there is a church or Capuchin Monastery (Where for communion instead of Bred & Wine ... the Lord is distributed via very nice coffee and biscuits!)
The skiing is awesome too ... I feel much happier in Kitz than Stanton
I nearly forgot the mountain restaurants ....
I want to have my ashes scattered on the steps of the Sonnenbuehl
Have a great time!

Each to their own, I am a lady you know and I thought St Anton bars and shopping were nicer - and the pool complex is very new and lovely too. As I said Kitz is very nice too so you can't go wrong really.
