Poster: A snowHead
|
I posted this question on another LDA thread but got no response perhaps because no-one knows but on the off chance that it was missed.....
Regarding the lift and run to Bons that is closed.
Does anyone know when this lift last ran and if it is still possible to ski/board down to Bons albeit the lift won’t take you back.
I have been to LDA many times in the last few years and tried to find the route down to Bons in the summer based on an old piste map which showed the old run .I couldn’t find a way through the trees which ended up at the lift station in Bons.
Perhaps trees have been planted where the run used to be?
I know there are some snowheads who know plenty about the resort so here's hoping.
Anyone skied that run or know anything about its route?

Obviously A snowHead isn't a real person

It hasn't operated for years. Yes, it is possible to ski down there, but I believe you have to duck a lot of tree branches - I haven't done it myself, and few people do, which gives you a bit of a clue as to how much fun it is I suppose. You then have to walk/hitch back to resort/Mont de Lans, whichever suits. You culd ask the bureau des guides, but I suspect they'd tell you there are much better routes around the place.

Well, the person's real but it's just a made up name, see?

Lizzard thanks for the reply. I was hoping it was a hidden gem with the only drawback being getting back but never mind .

honeybadger, if you want accesible off piste, go for the Echines at 3600, that bit under the Glaciers chair which drops you into the Fee, most of the rest of the Fee and the bit from the Diable down to resort. Or get the guides to take you to La Grave or down to St Christophe.

Anyway, snowHeads is much more fun if you do.

Clot de Chalance is good, easy to get to as well. Need a guide though really unless you really know what you're doing.

agreed it looks great but if it's where I think it is it leads into Fee and then into a run that is pretty flat and follows the valley bottem. On a board in those snow conditions (My skiing is a long way off getting down the run in the video) it would mean a long walk out

honeybadger, nonsense. I regularly board the Fee and make it all the way along the flat, no problem.

honeybadger, no, it just depends how much they've pisted the runout at the bottom. But even if they haven't it's worth a short walk, don't you think?

And love to help out and answer questions and of course, read each other's snow reports.

Lizzard, could be, I'll post and let you know when I've done it this year. If I have to trudge half a mile in deep snow expect a vitriolic post

honeybadger, Don't do it late season if it's slushy whatever you do, it's bad enough on skis. When are you out there? I'll be there for 9 weeks in 2 spells.
