Poster: A snowHead

Hi
Looking to go somewhere as a Solo Skier but something organised around group us together for socialising and apres ski etc.
Has anyone used Ski Club freshtracks as a solo skier?
Be great to hear your opinions. I am under the impression they use Mark Warner with added benifit of their own guides and even tutors in the package.
Anyone stayed at Chalethotel le Val d’Isère also?
Be interested to hear opinions of the place... i.e. is their menu choice or is it set?
Andy

Digging this up from the depths but anyone been to this? Gets some "lots of stomach bugs" reviews on Trip Advisor but also a couple of good ones. Looking for any impressions. ESP. with regards to facilities, food, distance from lifts and nearby nightlife. Thanks in advance.

Well, the person's real but it's just a made up name, see?

Rishie, Stayed there with my son , in 2009 , Hotel location is great , a couple of hundred yards to the slopes , i.e Solaise and Olympique lifts. Food was OK , no dodgy tummies. Facilities , the photos make it look better than it really is , used the pool a couple of times at night and the bar was fine but quite quiet. Being with my son the nightlife was quiet , however we did use the Morris Bar a number of times early evening , great atmosphere and good live music. Also used Pacific bar to watch sport and a few games of pool. Great crepe bar under the hotel , regualar stop for us after skiing. There was hosting , I didn't use it , but did ski with a few people (who were solo travellers). Good last day as it is Sunday transfers so had empty slopes on the Saturday.

Anyway, snowHeads is much more fun if you do.

I tried Freshtracks last year - accommodation was fine but wasn't impressed with the ski leading or instruction. If you're at the higher end of their gradings you'll probably be fine - if you're at the lower end be very careful, lots of injuries and people being lost from their groups. No real social side - private room parties for those who knew each other from previous trips.

that sounds truly grim. Welcome to SHs, Heexagone. You might do better to join one of the Snowheads bashes!

Heexagone, Wouldn't want that to be the only impression imparted here as I have had superb safe and sociable holidays many times with Fresh Tracks. Hate roomparties myself and always make for the bar.
What colour level were you at ? Sometimes we can be pushing ourselves too hard in the race for progress.
Also know another Singles holiday group and will try to find reference . Ruth Paul is the organiser and that might lead to her website anyway though there is a proper title to the grouping. Got it.....Ruth@singlesport.com
They were on a training week I did and had quite a range of abilities. Very affable lot.

Farley, thanks I'll try that. Maybe I just picked the wrong week with the wrong people - it wasn't particularly challenging more unnerving in that it was every man for himself - the leaders weren't the least bit bothered about leaving people dotted around the mountain!
