Mail for help.Help!!

Log in to snowHeads to make it MUCH better! Registration's totally free, of course, and makes snowHeads easier to use and to understand, gives better searching, filtering etc. as well as access to 'members only' forums, discounts and deals that U don't even know exist as a 'guest' user. (btw. 50,000+ snowHeads already know all this, making snowHeads the biggest, most active community of snow-heads in the UK, so you'll be in good company)..... When you register, you get our free weekly(-ish) snow report by email. It's rather good and not made up by tourist offices (or people that love the tourist office and want to marry it either)... We don't share your email address with anyone and we never send out any of those cheesy 'message from our partners' emails either. Anyway, snowHeads really is MUCH better when you're logged in - not least because you get to post your own messages complaining about things that annoy you like perhaps this banner which, incidentally, disappears when you log in :-)

Quite liked the look of this resort - any comments from anyone who's been there? Was thinking mid Jan - is it too cold then?

Any other comments much appreciated.

Haven't been to Trysil but did Geilo, Hemsedal and Oppdah in Christmas times (also been to Sweden Are twice) so just general comments.

Skiing in Scandinavia is just as good as the Alps but

(1) A lot less skiers
(2) Less chairlifts and the size of the resorts are a lot smaller
(3) Not intended for overseas tourists but more for the home crowd, hence very friendly
(4) Colder than the Alps definitely but they have heated warm sheds everywhere.
(5) Usually stunning scenery, not a lot of night life because it is COLD outside in the evening.
(6) Skiing infrastructure high standard but not much more snow than the Alps.
(7) A good choice for sampling different skiing.

Went there mainly because of a brother working there. Cost of living is high.

On the temperature side my worst experience is -26 in Les Arcs (Aiguile Rouge) but -5 to -15 is quite common in Norway's skiing slopes when the sun isn't shining.

Well, the person's real but it's just a made up name, see?

Thanks for the Saikee. I was thinking about going with Neilson (who were the only TO going there) but apparently they now don't after 2 seasons of going there - something about the new owners of the resort don't want to deal with outside tour operators!

Think I'll stick to the Alps then!

Many thanks again.
